To live content with small means;
to seek elegance rather than luxury,
and refinement rather than fashion,
to be worthy, not respectable,
and wealthy, not rich;
to study hard, think quietly,
talk gently, act frankly,
to listen to stars and birds,
to babes and sages,
with open heart,
to bear all cheerfully,
to all bravely await occasions,
hurry never.
In a word, to let the spiritual unbidden
and unconscious grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony.

Candids are always the best.

I never got a chance to unpitch my own tent in the previous treks. This was a first! Some might find this a tedious job but I was actually thrilled to learn the process. Hopefully, we also get to pitch the tent next time.

With fellow trekmate & tentmate, and a beautiful soul - we definitely made a great team when it came to unpitching. I can safely say we pretty much did the job perfectly fine everyday 😬✌️

P.S. Unpitching is the best warmup before starting the trek each day.

Never has a hangover lasted so long.
Never has moving on been this hard.

What made the trek so impactful, so memorable? People.

I went as a solo traveler and returned as part of a beautiful family full of character.

There was so much to learn from each one, so much to be grateful for. Everyone brought something to the table - a unique flavour, a unique perspective on life.

What binded us together was kindness. There was no place for ego, no judgements, no tantrums, no looking down upon. An invisible spirit was all we needed to be connected to one another.

This fam was a living example of 'In a world where you can be anything, be kind.'

Kashmir Great Lakes,
August 2021.

A trek that will stay with me for a lifetime.

Signed up for this only to explore what is known to be the prettiest trek in India, came back with way more than expected.

While most treks in India require you to summit one high pass in a week, we summited three high passes each with a unique terrain and magnificent views.

All three passes - Nichnai, Gadsar, Zach were around 13500 ft +. Gadsar Pass being the highest point of the trek at 13850 with sights of twin lakes Vishnusar and Kishansar on one side and Yamsar and Gadsar on the other.

The photo here is at Zach Pass at 13500 ft. What you see are the twin lakes Gangbal and Nandkol with the mighty Mt. Harmukh hidden behind the clouds in between the two glacial lakes.

As challenging as the trek was, it was truly magical and uplifting.

Have you done any high altitude treks yet? If not, book one right now and thank me later.

Street Artist, Athens.

Just another day in the famous Monastiraki Square. A beautiful square which sees and holds millions of stories, dreams, ambitions.

A small monastery in one corner, flea markets on both sides, restaurants lining up on either side, immigrants selling beautiful handmade bracelets, street artists performing magic, young lads selling sim cards to tourists, the poor sleeping on their rugs outside shut shops, couples buying that organic coffee from Beneth before hiking up the Acropolis hill rising above them, hustlers running in and out of the metro station, roof top bars preparing for another magnificent evening, and so much more..

Definitely not my favourite square, but I like the rawness of it. It isn't sophisticated like many other squares in Athens, which makes it so much more attractive. I feel it has a wild evil side to it and is fearless, but warm nevertheless.

Street Artists, Athens.

I have a dozen videos of various street artists who I credit for raising the vibe on Ermou street every single day and bringing smiles on faces of kids, adults and the elderly.

I came across on a rather difficult day, but they instantly uplifted my mood. I couldn't leave the square until they finished. I decided to skip doing my chores, grabbed a coffee instead and enjoyed the performance.

One of the finest in Athens! Look for them whenever you visit Greece. Each of the five is a gem. They made my day, I will be forever grateful ❤️

December 2017.
Acropolis, Athens.

Hakon was the last to visit me in the mild winter of Greece. Though I couldn't take a trip to Norway, he came down for a small vacation. It was a delight hosting him in Athens.

This picture was taken at sunset on the backside of Acropolis. I loved climbing this tiny hill where locals would come to relax while enjoying the beautiful Mediterranean sunset.

Ofcourse, nothing can beat the countless memories we made in Bangalore! The biggest perk of living in a backpackers hostel - making friends from all over the world and having occasional reunions.

April 2017.
Santorini, Greece.

Santorini will always remain close to my heart for all the memories, fun and not so fun! Working in Santorini has taught me many things and opened my eyes to the working culture on Greek islands.

It definitely isn't all shiny and bright. What goes behind making these world class hotels what they are, is tremendous hard work and dedication. Imagine having to work 8 months of the year without a single day off. Some days you work 2 shifts in a day.

For some, Santorini equals a relaxing luxury vacation, while for others it's a way of living.

Having said that, I'd be happy to work another season on this magnificent island without thinking twice!

Cheers to Greek hospitality.

April 2017.
Mykonos, Greece.

Just when I had finished my first semester and landed a dream internship in Santorini, my dearest childhood friend decided to visit me!

We planned her visit as such that it coincided with my moving to Santorini. We explored Athens, Mykonos and Santorini in our 7 days together. What made it even more interesting was it was Mitali's first trip so far away from home.

I took her around Athens to all places dear to me. This was already my 5th visit to the Acropolis. We took a ferry to Mykonos next. The picture was taken while exploring tiny alleys in Mykonos. As it was early April, half the island was shut with not may tourists around which made our trip even more memorable. The nights got so chilly and windy that we had to wrap ourselves in winter clothing! I would never forget the day we left Mykonos - we were shivering at the dock waiting for our ferry, those 30 mins looked like 2 hours!

Santorini was another story! Ever witnessed Santorini in a thunderstorm covered in black clouds? Well, it's a unique experience. During the many times I have been to Santorini and my 7 month stay on the island this was the day I will never forget.

Magical Greece!

Parivrtta Janu Sirsasana Variation.

Some days just practicing a flexibility flow helps you through the day. Imagine every cell in your body has a face - when you practice bending, stretching, hip opening, your cells look like this 😃🥳💃

Do you want your cells to party? Make sure to stretch yourself for atleast 5 mins a day. You will feel the difference ✨

I had many friends visiting me in Athens while I was living there.

My dear friend Tom from UK was the first to visit in January 2017. This is that mandatory picture from atop Acropolis with the majestic Parthenon in the background.

It is always a pleasure taking people around and showing them the city that you have come to know recently. We explored tiny streets of Anafiotika, had a fun meal on the famous Plaka stairs, came across amazing Graffiti in a hidden alley, took a tour to sit by the sea at the port of Pireaus and watch ferries pass, took 2 buses and a train to reach nowhere - we thought we were going to Meteora but realized we had wasted half a day in search of nothing.

Hold your memories dear and appreciate them once in a while. It definitely brings immense joy and happiness.

Glyfada, Greece.⁣

Living a Mediterranean lifestyle is one of the best gifts I gave myself. ⁣

A walk to the sea was a daily ritual in my initial days when I moved to Greece and started university on the outskirts of Athens. I stayed in a hotel room for 3 months as part of my course. During winters, the hotel rooms became student rooms and the hotel in itself turned into a University. During summertime when students left for their internship, the university went back to function as a hotel.⁣

This beach was Home.⁣

January 2017.⁣

She was the very first friend I made in Greece. Before joining, I was asked by my university if I would like to connect with this young lady who was crazy about Indians and the Indian culture! I instantly agreed. I was excited to know why a Tunisian living in Greece was so fond of my culture.⁣

I experienced the very first snowfall of my life in Athens with .henchiri ❤️ A true global citizen - as she says 'made in Africa & assembled in Greece', I feel like she belongs nowhere and everywhere. She has always been an inspiration working for human rights & notably refugee protection. I see HOPE in you, lady! So glad to have met you.⁣

Also, she is a polyglot and probably knows more than a dozen languages and dialects. Arabic, French, Turkish, Greek, English and the list goes on. ⁣

Found this picture hidden somewhere in my system and thought of sharing it. Celebrating friendships and memories is always precious!⁣

I have a strange attraction towards Colombia. Never been there but I love reading about this country, and about the Latin American region in general.⁣
⁣
While looking for books to read specifically on Colombian culture, I came across this small 1-hr read which is more like a guide to the Colombian culture and society. It covered interesting subjects ranging from migrant challenges, changing outlook towards marriage, LGBTQ+ reforms & progress, gender inequality, family structures, food and dance culture, etc. Way different than any other guide book I have come across.⁣
⁣
Thank you Thalby for the wonderful initiative. I learnt some amazing facts about Colombia and also realised how similar Colombian culture is to India in many areas. ⁣
⁣
If you'd like to grab this book, you can search for the book 'People in Colombia' on Amazon or type: www.amazon.com/dp/B084119BWF⁣
⁣
You can also follow them on for occasional free books and products! 😃⁣

Came across this and thought of sharing it.

This is the place which I talked about while sharing stories from my travel to Vietnam.

Tanvi Shah and I had the privilege of experiencing this exact same climate and vibe while up there.

Kapotasana.

Next step is to touch my elbows down and push move my hands further ahead to reach the ankles.

Steadily progressing with my backbends. I never thought I could do this, but thanks to my Yoga guru 🙏 I have been able to achieve quite a number of things within a short span of time because of the right guidance and mentorship.

Ashtavakrasana.
(Eight Angle Pose)

While I can get my legs up and balance, my shoulder alignment is off. My shoulders must be in a straight line. Need some more arm/shoulder strength.

Practice makes progress.

An act that touched my heart and soul. I still remember the feeling of peace and joy that I felt just watching the performance. ⁣

'Sema' is a traditional ritual performed by the Mevlevi Sufi order, based on the philosophy of Rumi. It is a sacred ritual that involves music, dance, prayer and meditation. It was started in the 13th century by Mevlana (Rumi). ⁣

There are a few 'whirling dervish' shows that happen in Istanbul and other major cities for tourists to get a glimpse of what the Sema looks and feels like. ⁣

This video was taken on the Bosphorus cruise as cameras are not allowed at Sema performances elsewhere.⁣

Ek Pada Rajakapotasana.
(One legged King Pigeon Pose)

The struggle is real with backbends! I couldn't do this a week back. I was so full of joy when I could finally hold my foot. Still not able to hold for more than a few seconds. Practicing every damn day!

Room with a view for one, please!⁣

And there I get upgraded to a Family Suite with an insanely beautiful panoramic view of the Aegean Sea. This was the first time I had ever been upgraded to the top! ⁣

Bodrum is a coastal city in Southwest Turkey and is popular for its beach towns and all inclusive resorts. ⁣

Have you ever been upgraded on flights or hotels? How did it make you feel? 😃⁣

Ardha Baddha Padmottanasana.

These videos are from when I practice alone. Because I don't really have a full length mirror setup, these videos help me look at my postures/asanas and study it to make it better. I have realized that until you see yourself doing an asana, it is challenging to know whether you are doing it right.

That said, will try to share better quality videos. Apologies for the terrible video quality here. I believe it has caused due to speeding up the video on a not-so-good app.

Hot Air Ballooning, Cappadocia.⁣

Never met such a sweet bunch before. We were 10 crazy ass women having the best time of our lives. We felt like family!⁣

Traveling doesn't come easy to many people and I wonder why. Why does everything have to be perfect on your holiday, why can't one just chill, relax and let it go? ⁣

The best way to travel in my perspective is to take each moment as it comes. No expectations, just pure acceptance!⁣

P.S. Try not to be a fussy traveler. PLEASE.⁣
