Today we took a day trip to Morocco’s Blue Pearl, Chefchaouen.

Chefchaouen has the most chill cats - it must be that fresh mountain air!

“What Can I Wear As a Tourist in Morocco?” is probably the number 1 question we get asked.

Check out Mint Tea Tours’ newest blog post which breaks down What to Wear in Morocco.

P.S. This is a photo of the faux pas we say NOT to do in our article. This is not a Moroccan women’s gandoura or jellaba, as you may see frequently described on some websites. This is considered a Moroccan lounging dress, house dress, or “pyjama” - and Moroccan women won’t wear it outside of the house.

UPDATED MAY 26, 2022: As of today’s date, here are the most current COVID entry requirements for Morocco: all travelers aged 12 years and up, arriving in Morocco by plane, will need to present: a completed & signed Passenger Health Form AND “valid” COVID-19 vaccine pass OR a negative PCR test result, in which the sample and the results are time-stamped and dated within 72 hours before your flight. To clarify:
• “Valid” COVID-19 vaccine pass = 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine + 3rd booster shot OR 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine, IF the 2nd dose was within 4 months of your trip to Morocco. For children 12-18 years of age, a “valid” vaccine pass = 2 doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
• PCR test = This must be a PCR test and not an antigen test.

📍 Fes, Morocco

Morocco is currently suffering from drought conditions. This has a profound effect on food prices, especially chicken and other livestock and produce and herbs, which are the mainstay of the Moroccan diet.

Maybe in other places people will grumble when they are impacted by a rainy day, slippery paths with puddles and wet clothing, if umbrellas are forgotten! And for sure, we understand that it’s nicer to explore Morocco under sunny skies.

But we are so happy to see rain today in Fes! Rain was forecast for a number of Moroccan cities today, and would you believe? Snow is expected in the Middle Atlas Mountains and toward the desert!

📍 Ouezzane, Morocco

Ouezzane is a town in northern Morocco, known as a spiritual center for both Muslims and Jews.

What blue is to Chefchaouen, is what green is to Ouezzane. A shopkeeper told us that it’s because of the olive oil industry.

So, there is a clever play in these letters on the main square - the Z and Z in Ouezzane are colored olive green, and in Darija, Olive Oil is spelled Zeit Zeitoune! 😉

Come explore Ouezzane now that Morocco borders are open!

📍 Ouezzane, Morocco

Ouezzane is a town in northern Morocco, known as a spiritual center for both Muslims and Jews.

What blue is to Chefchaouen, is what green is to Ouezzane. Perhaps it’s a nod to the color of Islam. Perhaps it’s because of the nearby olive oil industry.

Come explore Ouezzane and discover the reason for yourself!
