A trip to the City of Essaouira on the coast of Morocco is bound to be relaxed and chilled. This is going to happen because of a few things, firstly there aren’t a huge about of things to do in Essaouira, there are things to do and see but there are no real iconic tourist spots that need ticking off and queuing for.

Secondly although it is an African and Arabic City it’s not intense like other places in Morocco, the locals are friendly to tourists and are going about their day, most of whom are not involved in the tourism of the city and this all adds to a really nice and relaxed atmosphere.

Ancient, cosmopolitan Marrakesh is a city that bursts with life as a religious, business, and cultural center of the region, and is renowned for its open and welcoming spirit.

The city is clearly divided into the large historic city, the medina, and the Ville Nouvelle, Gueliz. The focal point of the medina (in fact the whole city) is the Place Djemaa el-Fna which is adjacent to the most important souqs. The medina is magic for strolling and observing Moroccan life. It is also home to sites such as the Sidi Ben Youssef Mosque and the museum of Marrakech

At the crossroads of Arabic, Andalusian, Mediterranean, and Berber culture, the cuisine of Marrakesh is rich and flavorful. Couscous is a staple, along with olive oil, and the fragrant spices that grow in the region, like mint, cinnamon, ginger, and many more. Traditional dishes include the tagine, or a kind of spicy hot pot stew, and pastilla, a spicy meat pie in flaky pastry.

Must-try in Marrakesh: Tajine, Couscous, Pastilla, Chicken Tajine, Harira, Tanjia.
