Rose flowers at the rose valley.
Fresh roses in the hands of a local young woman who picks them. The hand decoration is what we call "henna", used to decorate for festive occasions and also to aid healing. The black netting seen under the roses is a fine collecting bag used when picking; to shade the buds from the sun and to prevent bruising to the petals.

HAPPY EID TO ALL MY FRIENDS "MUSLIMS & NON-MUSLIMS" ACROSS THE WORLD

For those who are not Muslims but keen to have a sight about this festivity, here I write you a brief summary about the event and it's activities.

Eid Al Fitr:

Eid al-Fitr is an important Muslim holiday celebrated for one day at the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. It is also called the “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, religious holiday that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. As Ramadan bases on the lunar calendar the date of Eid al-Fitr changes each year. Often referred to as simply Eid, it is not to be confused with the other major Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha (in which muslims slaughter sheep as sacrifice for Allah). In Morocco, Eid al-Fitr may also be referred to as the small, or lesser, Eid, while Eid al-Adha is the greater Eid.

Eid al-Fitr was originated by the Islamic prophet Muhammad. According to certain traditions, these festivals were initiated in Medina after the migration of Mohamed from Mecca. Anass, a well-known companion of the Prophet, narrated that, when the Prophet arrived in Medina, he found people celebrating two specific days in which they entertained themselves with recreation and merriment. At this, the Prophet remarked that the Almighty has fixed two days of festivity instead of these for you which are better than these: Eid al-Fitr and Eid Al Adha.
Eid al-Fitr has a particular prayer generally performed in an open field or large hall. For many Moroccans the day begins quite early as many Muslims head out to their local mosque for a morning Eid sermon and congregational prayers.

Following the prayer, Eid Al-Fitr celebrations are traditionally low-key, family affairs in Morocco. Extended families may gather for festive meals, starting with spreads of food for breakfast and continuing through the main meal of the day; or individual families may choose to eat at home and then visit relatives in the afternoon and evening.

THE NIGHT OF POWER IN RAMADAN!

During the holy month of , there is a special night which is known among Muslims as "Laylat Al- Qadr" literally means "The night of destiny". It is considered the Holiest night of the Islamic Calendar. It was on this night that the Angel Jibreel revealed the first verses of the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is believed to have taken place on one of the final 10 nights of Ramadan in 610 CE, though the exact night is unclear, but it is widely agreed to fall on the 27th night. During this day, people pray overnight for their well-being, and it is believed that, every good deed receives higher reward than that of a thousand months of good deeds...

HAPPY AMAZIGH NEW YEAR 2972

Today, January 12, coincides with the Amazigh New Year, 2972, known as “Yennayer”. Yennayer is the first day of the agrarian calendar year used since ancient times by Berbers throughout North Africa. Even though this day has not yet been recognized officially in Morocco as a national holiday, most of Moroccans never miss this occasion to celebrate and exchange wishes and prayers during this day, which marks the beginning of a new Amazigh year.
The history of this great event traces back to 950 BC, when the Amazigh nation defeated the pharaoh army and managed to enter Egypt, during the reign of Pharaohs. Under the leadership of "Chachanq" known also as "Cheshung", the Amazighs were able to establish a new monarchy that ruled from Libya to Egypt. This glorious victory marked the beginning of the Amazigh date.

To celebrate this big event, people all over Morocco prepare various succulent dishes. There are also many amazing traditions and practices that accompany the food that the Amazigh prepare for this night of festivity. Apart from dancing and singing special songs of love, fertility and prosperity, welcoming a new agrarian year, the Amazigh people, in particular those in the country side, find in this occasion a better chance to socialize, exchange food and seek reconciliation with those with whom they had some misunderstandings.

For these happy moments, I take the chance to wish all of you a happy new year full of joy and prosperity. In the Amazigh language, I tell you, "Assuggas Amaynu d Ameggaz, s Tudert Nek A winu" which means happy New Year.

Morocco has four imperial cities: Marrakesh, Fes, Meknes, and Rabat. Rabat is the current capital city.
