📍MOROCCO'S VIBRANT PALM OASES: A LUSH OASIS IN THE DESERT
👉The palm oases of Morocco, spread across the southern regions, play a key role in the country’s agriculture and economy. The Draâ Oasis, stretching 200 km in length, is one of the largest, with around 18,000 hectares of palm groves. Other significant oases include Ouarzazate (11,000 hectares), Tinghir (5,000 hectares), Tata (4,000 hectares), and Marrakech (3,000 hectares). Together, these areas support 5 million palm trees across 50,000 hectares of land.
👉 In terms of production, Ouarzazate and Errachida account for 90% of Morocco’s date output, particularly varieties like Deglet Noor and Medjool/Mejhol. These oases provide vital resources for local communities and contribute significantly to the country’s date exports. The palms also play an important ecological role by preventing soil erosion and helping maintain a sustainable environment in the desert.
