A beautifully written article in The NY Times, poignant, sensitive, and spot on.

My beloved country now has a seat at the table. This Amazigh led team, made its way to the top, with technique, sweat and passion. Was this really a miracle? Maktub! The road was written for them to lead.

While by words some say defeat, yet at heart, a gain of great significance, representing the face of Africa and the Arab World. We have all witnessed talent, modesty and humanity. As the team bowed towards Allah in a show of grace, many tears were shed. Around the globe people have now seen the the heartbeat of Morocco!

On some level this will always be Morocco’s World Cup, the one that made it a trailblazer, a record breaker, a watermark that will not fade.

Celebrate the Bride of the North & Visit Tangier!

Maritime traffic between Morocco and Spain is expected to resume in early April, after two years of suspension. The first ferry will depart from the port of Tarifa bound for the port of Tangier on April 7, 2022.

This reopening of the maritime borders comes after President Pedro Sanchez sent a letter to King Mohammed VI in which he expressed Spain's support for the Sahara autonomy plan proposed by Morocco, which it considers to be the solution. The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, announced the resumption of maritime links and Operation Marhaba.

Today Essaouira honors Fantasia! The majesty of living and working in Morocco years round is being able to see local historical and spiritual festivals.

Our annual Fantasia that takes place across the country in select cities and regions such as El Jadida, Meknes and Essaouira.

Fantasia consists of a group of horse riders, wearing traditional clothes and charging along a straight path at the same speed so as to form a line, at the end of the ride (about a two hundred meters) all riders fire in the sky using old gunpowder guns. The difficulty of the performance is synchronization during the acceleration especially during firing so that one single shot is heard. The two words in Arabic that describe the main events in the Fantasia are ‘harrga’ meaning a movement and ‘barood’ meaning gun-powder. The Fantasia horse and is of type barb.

The performance is inspired from historical wartime attacks of Berber and desert knights. Today, Fantasia is considered as a cultural art and a form of martial art.

Each region in Morocco has one or several fantasia groups, called serba, totaling thousands of horse riders nationwide. Performances are usually during local seasonal, cultural or religious festivals, also called mousseum ('season' in Arabic).
