An unforgettable stay at
the creation of Stephen Skinner, an
Englishman who fell for Morocco years ago, the Kasbah is
solidly built of rammed earth using an age-old Berber
technique. As a result, it blends into the scenery, cloaked
from view by the mature, terraced gardens.
More chic than shabby The Kasbah is set around an
internal patio. It accommodates large comfortable public
spaces, supple leather chairs, vintage furniture mixed with
local Berber fabrics.
Still, it's the outdoor space that impresses most.
Meandering pathways lined by clipped rosemary bushes
lead you to a walled pool and astonishing views where
tables beckon for memorable sundowners. The Kasbah has
resently added a retreat with an unforgettable view

Start your morning early and see the
sunrise over Marrakech from a hot air balloon. Less
than one hour outside of Marrakech and
recommended to go for sunrise
Seing the sunrise over the desert and Atlas
Mountains is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful
things you can do Marrakech.
This is the perfect activity for people who don't have
a lot of time in Marrakech because tours start while
it's still dark - long before the sun rises
- and end
when many tourists are just starting the day; most
tours usually last around fives hours and finish with
enough time to explore Marrakech for the rest of the
day.
It's not uncommon to have traditional Moroccan
snacks and tea before the hot air ballon launches
and then having a more traditional Berber breakfast
while watching the sun rise over the desert and
mountains.

What is a madrasa?
If you have never visited a Muslim country, you might not have heard the word “madrasa” before. A madrasa is an Islamic school and is specialized in religious studies.

The school was built for the students who attended the Ben Youssef Mosque, located adjacent to the madrasa.

The largest madrasa in Morocco
The Ben Youssef Madrasa is the largest Islamic college in Morocco and is also the most important. It was founded during the fourteenth century and re-constructed in 1565, commissioned by Abdallah al-Ghalib. It has over 130 rooms and has housed over 900 students.

The highlight of the madrasa is its magnificent interior patio. You will also greatly enjoy visiting its bare dormitory cells where the students would stay.

Taking our breath away with this splendid throwback moment in Medrasa Ben Youssef 👩‍🎓

The Medersa Ben Youssef is the largest medersa in North Africa and one of Marrakech's most picturesque buildings. In the heart of the souks, this medersa--a theological college--once boarded some 900 students for religious study.

Built around 1565 and rebuilt in the 16th century, it features exquisite details of Moroccan architecture.

The Moorish archways displayed here are from the prayer hall and open to a large, light-filled rectangular courtyard, where clusters of students would gather around their teachers (sheikhs). Every surface of the courtyard is elaborately decorated.

Colorful mosaic (zellij) tiles in a repetitive star pattern cover the lower part of the columns. Above the tiles are bands of Koranic text interwoven with floral designs. On the stucco are panels of plaster carved with patterns (geometric and palm motifs) or inscriptions (calligraphy).

Entry is allowed to non-muslims. A ticket provides access to Medersa Ben Youssef, Musee de Marrakech and Koubba El Badiyin. (Note that the Medersa Ben Youssef is temporary closed for renovation)

Five times a day, one voice rises above the din of Djemaa El Fna as the muezzin calls the faithful to prayer from the Koutoubia Mosque. The mosque's minaret has been standing guard over the old city since the Almohads erected it in the 12th century. Today it's Marrakesh's most famous landmark. The tower is a monumental cheat sheet of Moorish ornament: scalloped keystone arches, jagged merlon crenelations and mathematically pleasing proportions.

☪️ Ramadan Tradition 3: Charity ☪️
Ramadan is the month of giving and charity plays an extremely important part in Ramadan’s rituals. Before Iftar, Muslims think of those in need who may not be able to afford a complementary meal and offer them parts of their own meals. Mostly Moroccans offer harira, boiled eggs and dates. Some offer money and some invite their poor friends or neighbors to share the Iftar meal. In Islam, offering food, even just one date to the poor to break their fast, may get you to heaven.

🍃 Happy Mother Earth Day 🌎
We have only one planet, so let's preserve it. Earth Day is celebrated every year on the 22 April. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the world's largest environmental movement! World Earth Day is all about responsibility, education, and protection. Since 1970, the movement around keeping our planet as stunning as it is now has grown from strength to strength, marking 22 April as the day to remember what we all can do to keep it beautiful. From using less plastic to protecting all living creatures, today marks that specific day where we all stand still and use today as a reminder of how we can contribute to this cause for the days to come.⠀

The lack of conscience of some makes them commit stupidities towards nature and its living components. This group of local tourists brutally chases the adorable desert fennec in the desert of Merzouga. These rare foxes are mercilessly hunted and captured to be sold as domestic animals that this wonderful animal's name has been written on the endangered list. As a local agency catering eco friendly travels for people wishing to experience the natural environment without damaging it or disturbing its habitats, we condemn such behaviors that threaten the natural balance in our world and it’s ecosystems, as we strongly believe that these animals are as much a part of our heritage and identity.

17/04/2021

Inscribed to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2004, the Portuguese city of Mazagan is a fortification that was constructed by Portuguese traders and is today a small part of the coastal city of El Jadida. Finally taken over by Moroccans in 1769, the ramparts and fortification resemble early renaissance military design, while the cistern (seen illustrated above) and the Church of Assumption resemble gothic architecture built in a style reflecting typical Manueline characteristics. As one of the first settlements built by Portuguese explorers en route from West Africa to India, the fortification is considered a pristine example of the exchanges of culture and influence between Morocco and Europe from the 16th to 18th centuries.

08/04/2021

Ouarzazate's only real sight of historical interest is the former el Glaoui palace, the Taourirt Kasbah. The el Glaoui clan controlled one of the major southern caravan routes to West Africa and were given extensive power by the French during colonial rule in exchange for keeping the southern tribes subdued. The Taourirt Kasbah was built in the 19th century and reached the height of importance during the 1930s, when the el Glaoui powers were at their peak. Although located at a strategic junction of the caravan routes, the kasbah was never actually resided in by the el Glaoui chiefs.
