There are many mosaics in Volubilis, most of them in very good shape. They were the floors of the houses of the richer inhabitants of Volubilis. You can find them with animals, Roman gods or just geometric patterns.⁠

The Place el Hedim is to Meknes what the Jemaa el Fna is to Marrakech. Of course, it is much smaller, just like everything in Meknes when compared to Marrakech. But that just makes it better, as you can observe everything around you in peace and quiet.⁠
So, enjoy a fresh juice at one of the rooftop terraces surrounding the square, listen to the music or watch the artists that gather here in the evening.⁠

One of the major highlights in Meknes is the Medersa Bou Inania from the 14th century. It wonderfully showcases the traditional architecture from that time with the inner courtyard and the typical wall decorations. There are carved cedarwood, stucco and tile mosaics and you can find beautiful calligraphy hidden in those elements.⁠

Morocco updated the entry requirements for France, Spain and Portugal. From tomorrow night they are on list B and you'll have to be fully vaccinated (+2 weeks) or go into 10 days self paid quarantine in arrival.

Meknes, one of the four imperial cities of Morocco, has a lot to offer. From the old medina with a traditional Madrasa (Quran school) to the Ville Imperiale with the impressive buildings from the late 17th century. Pictured here is the Bab Mansour, the old entrance into the Ville Imperiale. It is the most impressive city gate in all of Morocco. Both Medina and Ville Imperiale are listed as UNESCO world heritage. Most people only visit for a day trip from Fes, but I recommend spending 2 days here.⁠
