Hello Friends and Followers
So my travels have come to an end. Since last post I have visited Bursa, there was the most amazing tree! The Inkaya Plane Tree is 600+ years old, 37 metres tall with a shade of 53 metres….so impressive and to sit for breakfast in the shade of this tree was an absolute pleasure.
After Bursa, I travelled to Ankara…the capital of Turkey. Unfortunately was raining quite a lot and I must be honest that after so much driving and travelling, I made the decision to just relax at the hotel sipping tea as I watched the rain. I must mention that I drive through Eskisehir on way to Ankara…is a city that is on my to-do list if ever I have opportunity to return again. As I drove through it, it had that nice calm feel and was very picturesque.
To finish I returned to istanbul for final few nights. Made decision to drive through the Avrasya tunnel…5.4km tunnel under the Bosphorus Strait connecting the 2 continents of Asia and Europe… as Turkey sits in both continents. I spent last 2 days in city buying small gifts for family, wandering the streets and lanes watching everyday life happen. Walked through the spice bazaar again just to enjoy the sensory journey that it is. And of course I enjoyed my final Turkish coffees at small local cafes.
Istanbul airport…large and busy. My adventures didn’t stop here….my flight was overbooked so bumped to flight next day. The airline organised transfers and accommodation…but by the time all was sorted out I had sat at airport for more than 8 hours…the ups and downs of travel. As frustrating as it was I remembered stories about the things that go wrong when travelling from those I had guided in Morocco and went with ‘is all part of the adventure’.
Turkey is an amazing country, such diversity in landscapes and sights and been magnificent to be able to experience and enjoy it.
Now I am back in Morocco….first tea, then tagine hahahah. I appreciate more these simple pleasures of my coun
