This is such an amazing photo of this Green Bright-eyed Frog (Boophis viridis).

This frog is almost transparent. Apparently, they have the ability to change color, sometimes with reddish spots.

Madagascar has such amazing wildlife. To quote Russell Mittermeier in "The Eighth Continent" by Peter Tyson (published in 2000), "Madagascar is a living laboratory unlike any place on Earth. (...) Without a doubt, the most striking feature of Madagascar's biodiversity is its degree of endemism, both a the species level and the level of genera and families (...) The reptiles and amphibians are both highly diverse and rich in endemics. With the frogs, which are the only amphibians represented on the island, endemism is almost complete. The *178* species of frogs includee only 1 or 2 introduced species, so endemism is 99 percent; the number of endemic genera stands at 16 or 17 out of a total 18."

Some good news from the Great Island, Emirates is now flying to Antananarivo, Madagascar! 🎉🥳

Let’s see how it goes.

Just a reminder, October to December is the best season for wildlife. So if you have no plans for thanksgiving yet you can still consider Madagascar 🇲🇬!

November is the best for birds, reptiles and amphibians.

Sickle-billed Vanga is a member of the endemic Vanga family. It is fairly common and conspicuous in all types of dry forest and woodland in northern, western, and southwestern Madagascar, including secondary forest and savannah. Especially likes areas with baobabs where it is usually seen eating from the fruits. Best spots are Ankarafantsika, Ankarana, Kirindy and Berenty.

Zombitse sportive lemur is, according to its name, found in Zombitse forest in the South of Madagascar. Sportive lemurs are nocturnal lemurs, so most of the time they are found sleeping in tree cavities or tree forks or tangles.
Just to say, birding tours in Madagascar are not exclusively about birds. You can't unsee lemurs.

Long-tailed Ground-roller is only found in a small portion of the spiny forest along the southwest coast of Madagascar, North of Toliara. Elusive and shy, you have to work hard to find it.
