Temate means “more beautiful” is a traditional Wobé (western Ivory Coast) Man dance which is performed by young girls. These pay homage to the spirits favorable to an abundant rice harvest. It is a celebratory dance but it can also be performed at funerals.
Traditionally, the "temate" dance takes place as follows: wearing a cowrie hat and wearing a large leather belt at the waist and bells on their feet, the dancers perform a choreography illustrating the story of rice which they mime together moving in single file: they sow the seeds, harvest the rice, prepare and consume it and honor the nourishing earth.

Wetlands are composed of large, shallow marine areas, scattered islands, intertidal sandbars, mudflats, channels, small streams and old-growth mangrove forests. The mudflats shelter immense seagrass beds populated by a very wide variety of invertebrates (notably molluscs and crustaceans) and, at high tide, they constitute important feeding or nursery areas for fish of commercially important deep waters.
