Kyaiktiyo Pagoda
Kyaiktiyo Pagoda (Burmese: ကျိုက်ထီးရိုးဘုရား, pronounced [tɕaiʔtʰíjó pʰəjá]; Mon: ကျာ်သိယဵု, [tɕaiʔ sɔeʔ jɜ̀]; also known as Golden Rock) is a well-known Buddhist pilgrimage site in Mon State, Burma. It is a small pagoda (7.3 metres (24 ft)) built on the top of a granite boulder covered with gold leaves pasted on by its male devotees.

According to legend, the Golden Rock itself is precariously perched on a strand of the Buddha's hair. The balancing rock seems to defy gravity, as it perpetually appears to be on the verge of rolling down the hill. The rock and the pagoda are at the top of Mt. Kyaiktiyo. Another legend states that a Buddhist priest impressed the celestial king with his asceticism and the celestial king used his supernatural powers to carry the rock to its current place, specifically choosing the rock as the resemblance to the monks head. It is the third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma after the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Mahamuni Pagoda.[1][2][3][4]

Currently, women are not allowed into the inner sanctuary of the rocks vicinity, maintained by an employed security guard who watches over the gated entrance. Women are permitted in the outer balcony and the lower courtyard of the rock.

The Golden Rock is one of the most important Buddhist sites in Myanmar. The huge bolder, covered with golden leaf, is balancing on the edge of a rock since antiquity. Small pagoda (Kyaiktiyo Pagoda - 7 meters/24 ft) is built on top of the boulder. The site is at elevation of 1,100 metres / 3,600 ft.
In the video: views of the rock and the Buddhist pilgrims at sunrise, sunset and after dark.

Some years ago I was struck by the beauty, the sheer size and number of the monuments, when I saw a documentary of Lonely Planet about Bagan in Myanmar. One thing I knew for sure: "That's a place I want to go".
To me Bagan is the apex of a civilization, like for instance Angkor in Cambodia. These people created an amazing 2.224 Buddhist monuments, dating from Bagan's "Golden Period" (1044 -- 1287) with such a simple means.
I stayed in Bagan for thirteen days and visited and photographed almost all of the interesting Buddhist monuments and temples. I hope this unique HD movie with the wonderful music of Deuter's Buddha nature will transmit some of the awe and wonder I felt walking around at one of the most wonderful sacred sites on this planet I have visited.

The sacred Popa Taung Kalat monastery sits incredibly atop a huge rocky outcrop. 777 steps lead to the top, offering stunning views of the surrounding plains and Mount Popa. Taung Kalat is one of the most sacred places in Myanmar. In addition to the Buddhist monastery, there are several Nat shrines (dedicated to spirits, worshipped in the country). In the video: sunrise and sunset views to Taung Kalat from the nearby hotel on the slopes of Mount Popa, and visit to Taung Kalat.
