Much of the pagoda’s beauty derives from the complex geometry of its shape and surrounding structures, and mesmerizes its golden glow. It rises 99 m on a hill 51 m above the city. The lower stupa is plated with 8,688 solid gold bars, and upper part is plated with another 13,153. The pagoda base’s is 432 m and its height is 99 m above the platform. The top of the stupa, too high for the human eye to discern in any detail, is decorated with 5448 diamonds, 2317 rubies, sapphires, emerald and other gems and 1065 golden bells.

The main stupa of Shwedagon Pagoda is in a circular shape and surrounded by smaller pagodas that form a square at the base; four of these pagodas point directly to the four cardinal points of north, south, east, and west, as do each of the four staircases. There are huge statues of guardian lions known as Chinthes that are posted at the entrance of each of the four gateways. These signify mythical guardians of the pagoda. The images on the eight shrines that encircle the pagoda represent the days of the week, with Wednesday being split between morning and evening, making it eight shrines in total. Worshipers circumambulate Shwedagon, paying homage to each shrine, paying special attention to the shrine representing their day of birth. These and other features lend to the significance of astrology in Buddhism and the pagoda's design. Shwedagon Pagoda is covered in beautiful art and iconography that complement the pagoda's significance in Buddhist history and culture. The pagoda complex features many different temples that highlight previous incarnations of the Buddha and smaller spirits.

စာေရးဆရာႀကီး ဟာမန္ဟက္စ္ရဲ႕ သိဒၶတၱ - Siddhartha ၀တၱဳမွာ ဇာတ္၀င္ခန္းတစ္ခုက သိဒၶတၱ နဲ႕ ေဂါတမဗုဒၶ တို႔ ေတြ႕ဆုံခန္းပဲ။ အဲဒီမွာ တရားထူး ရွာေဖြသူ သိဒၶတၱက ေမးတယ္။ “အို အရွင္ .. နိဗၺာန္ကို မ်က္ေမွာက္ျပဳရန္မွာ သင္ၾကား ရယူယုံျဖင့္ မျဖစ္နိုင္။ အရွင္ ကိုယ္တိုင္ အားထုတ္ ဆင္ျခင္ၿပီးမွ မ်က္ေမွာက္ျပဳခဲ့သည္ မဟုတ္ပါလား။ သို႔ရာတြင္ အရွင့္အေနျဖင့္ ရဟန္း ရွင္လူမ်ားအား ေကာင္းက်ိဳး ခ်မ္းသာ တရားမ်ား ေဟာေျပာ ၫႊန္ျပသည္ကိုသာ နာယူေနရပါသည္။ ကိုယ္ေတာ္တိုင္ အားထုတ္ ရယူခဲ့သည့္ တရားထူးကို သင္ၾကားေပး႐ုံမွ်ျဖင့္ ထို ရဟန္းသံဃာမ်ား မရနိုင္ဘူး ဆိုတာ သိရက္နဲ႕ အရွင္ဘာေၾကာင့္…..” လို႔ ေမးပါတယ္။ ေဂါတမ ဗုဒၶက “အို သိဒၶတၱ .. ငါသိတယ္။ ငါ့ေနာက္မွာ လိုက္ပါေနၾကတဲ့ သံဃာေတြကို ေကာင္းက်ိဳးခ်မ္းသာ တရားေတြ မေဟာပဲ၊ မလိုက္နာေစပဲ တပ္မက္မႈေတြ မ်ားလွတဲ့ ေလာကႀကီးထဲ ျပန္လႊတ္ လိုက္ရင္ေကာ သူတို႔အတြက္ ပိုေကာင္းလာ ပါ့မလား” လို႔ ျပန္လွန္ေမးခြန္း ထုတ္တယ္။

Post-truth နိုင္ငံေရး

ေအာက္စဖို႔အဘိဓာန္ရဲ႕ ၂၀၁၆ ခုႏွစ္ word of the year တစ္ခုက post-truth လို႔ဆိုတယ္။ အဓိပၸါယ္ အားျဖင့္ေတာ့ အမွန္တရားနဲ႕ အခ်က္အလက္ကို အေျခခံတဲ့ နိုင္ငံေရးမဟုတ္၊ သက္ေသ အေထာက္အထား ကို အေျခမခံေသာ္လည္း လူေတြရဲ႕ (သည္းေျခႀကိဳက္) စိတ္ခံစားမႈကို လႈံ႕ေဆာ္နိုင္တဲ့ နိုင္ငံေရး လို႔ အၾကမ္းျဖင္း ဆိုနိုင္ပါတယ္။ ဥပမာ ေဒၚနယ္ထရမ့္က အေမရိကန္ သမၼတ အိုဘားမားဟာ ျပည္တြင္းမွာ ေမြးဖြားတာ မဟုတ္ဘူး ဆိုတဲ့ လိမ္ညာ ေဟာေျပာမႈကို တစိုက္မတ္မတ္ လုပ္ခဲ့တယ္။ အိုဘားမားက ေမြးစားရင္း အေသးစိတ္ကို ထုတ္ျပန္ေပးလည္း ဂ႐ုမစိုက္ဘူး။ သိသိနဲ႕ ဆက္လိမ္တာကို လက္ခံသူမနည္းတာ လက္ေတြပဲ။ ၂၀၁၆ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ဒီစကားလုံး ခုလို ေရပန္းစား ရျခင္းဟာ Brexit ေၾကာင့္၊ ထရမ့္ေအာင္ပြဲ ေၾကာင့္ လို႔လည္းဆိုတယ္။ သို႔ေသာ္ အစိမ္းသက္သက္ေတာ့ မဟုတ္ဘူး။ ၂၀၁၅ ခုႏွစ္ ေႏွာင္းပိုင္းကတည္းက ပိုလန္မွာ ဥပေဒနဲ႕ တရားမွ်တမႈ ပါတီ - Prawo i Sprawiedliwoś ေခၚ P*S အစိုးရရဲ႕ လူၿပိန္းႀကိဳက္ အမ်ိဳးသားေရး မူဝါဒ ေတြေအာက္မွာ ဒီမိုကေရစီ ေနာက္ျပန္ဆုတ္သြားခဲ့တဲ့ ပိုလန္ကို ေတြ႕ေနခဲ့ရၿပီး ျဖစ္တယ္။ ဝါရွင္တန္ပို႔ သတင္းစာကေတာ့ ထရမ့္လက္ထက္ အေမရိကန္ ဘယ္လိုျဖစ္လာမလဲ သိဖို႔ ယေန႕ပိုလန္ကို ၾကည့္လို႔ ေျပာတဲ့အထိ။

နိုင္ငံတကာ ဆက္ဆံေရးမွာ ဆိုရင္လည္း အမွန္တရား အလြန္ နိုင္ငံေရးဟာ လြတ္လပ္စြာ ေျပာဆိုခြင့္ကို တြယ္ကပ္ တက္လာရာကေန လြတ္လပ္မႈ တစ္ခုလုံးကို ဖုံးအုပ္ဖို႔ ႀကိဳးစားခဲ့တယ္။ အကိုင္းေပၚမွာ အေလ့က် ေပါက္လာတဲ့ ေညာင္ပင္က မူလတစ္ပင္လုံးကို မ်ဳိလိုက္သလိုပဲ။ နိုင္ငံေရး ဆိုေသာ္လည္း စီးပြားေရး နယ္ပယ္မွ အစျပဳခဲ့တယ္။ ၁၉၉၀ ျပည့္ႏွစ္မ်ား ေနာက္ပိုင္း ကတည္းက ဒီမိုကေရစီ နိုင္ငံမ်ားမွ လြတ္လပ္တဲ့ ေဈးကြက္စီးပြားေရးကို အမွီျပဳၿပီး တစ္ပါတီ တ႐ုတ္ျပည္ဟာ မိမိစီးပြားေရးကို တည္ေဆာက္ နိုင္ခဲ့တယ္။ ကြာျခားခ်က္ အေနနဲ႕ လြတ္လပ္တဲ့ ေဈးကြက္ မွာ စီး၀င္ေမ်ာေနတဲ့ နိုင္ငံမ်ားကတစ္ဖက္၊ ဒီေဈးကြက္ရဲ႕ လြတ္လပ္စြာ ေရာင္း၀ယ္ေဖာက္ကားခြင့္ကို “နတ္, ကရာ ၾကည့္ေမာ” လုပ္မေနပဲ အသုံးခ်သြားတဲ့ တ႐ုတ္က တဖက္ဆိုတာ ေတြ႕ရမယ္။ လြန္ခဲ့တဲ့ ႏွစ္ႏွစ္ေလာက္က ေဝါစထရိ ဂ်ာနယ္ ေဆာင္းပါးမွ ဘရာဇီးေရာက္ တ႐ုတ္လုပ္ငန္းရွင္ တစ္ဦးရဲ႕ မွတ္ခ်က္အရ “ဘရာဇီးလူမ်ိဳးေတြဟာ ပြဲကလိုက္ ကမ္းေျခ အပန္းေျဖ သြားလိုက္နဲ႕ အလုပ္ကို ေကာင္းေကာင္း မလုပ္ၾကဘူး။ တ႐ုတ္ တေယာက္ ကိုသာ ကမ္းေျခ လႊတ္လိုက္ပါလား။ လက္ထဲမွာ ေဈးေရာင္းဖို႔ တစ္ခုခု ပါသြားမွာ ေသခ်ာတယ္” ဆိုပဲ။ ယေန႕အခါမွာေတာ့ ကြန္ျမဴနစ္ အရင္းရွင္ တ႐ုတ္ဟာ ေတာင္တ႐ုတ္ ပင္လယ္ အျငင္းပြား ကြၽန္းေတြမွာ လက္နက္ မတတ္ဆင္ ပါဘူး လို႔ အာမဘေနၱ ခံထားထာကို ေျပာင္က်က် ခ်ိဳးေဖာက္ၿပီး ေဝဟင္ပစ္ ဒုံးစခန္းေတြ အခိုင္အမာ တည္ေဆာက္လာတဲ့ အထိ ျဖစ္လာခဲ့ၿပီ။

အမွန္တရား အလြန္နိုင္ငံေရး အရ ယေန႕ ႐ုရွားရဲ႕ ထိုးေဖာက္ လာမႈဟာ လက္ညိုးထိုး မလြဲတဲ့ ကိစၥပဲ။ အေနာက္နိုင္ငံေတြရဲ႕ သတင္းမီဒီယာ လြတ္လပ္ခြင့္ကို ထိထိမိမိ အသုံးခ်ၿပီး ႐ုရွာရဲ႕ ဩဇာကို ခ်ဲ့ထြင္ခဲ့တယ္။ အိမ္နီးနားခ်င္း ယူကရိန္းကို အနိုင္က်င့္ ဗိုလ္က်ၿပီး အမွားေတြကို အမွန္လုပ္ခဲ့တယ္။ မေလးရွား ေလေၾကာင္းလိုင္း MH-7 ကို ပစ္ခ်ခဲ့တာကို ေျပာင္လိမ္ခဲ့တယ္။ အေမရိကန္ ေ႐ြးေကာက္ပြဲကို အတိုင္းအတာ တစ္ခုအထိ လႊမ္းမိုးနိုင္ခဲ့တယ္။ တျမန္ေန႕က ဂါဒီယန္ သတင္းစာမွာ ေဖာ္ျပခ်က္အရ ဝီကီလိခ္ ဟာ ႐ုရွားနဲ႕ ဆက္စပ္တာကိုလည္း သံသယျဖစ္စရာ ေတြ႕ရတယ္။ ဝီကီလိခ္ဟာ ကမာၻအရပ္ရပ္ ဒီမိုကေရစီေတြ (အထူးသျဖင့္ အေနာက္နိုင္ငံမ်ား) ရဲ႕ အတြင္းေရးကို ေဖာ္ထုတ္ေပမဲ့ ႐ုရွားကိုေတာ့ လက္ေရွာင္ထားခဲ့တယ္။ ဝီကီလိခ္ ေခါင္းေဆာင္ ဂ်ဴလီယန္အက္ဆန္ ရဲ႕ အဆိုအရ ႐ုရွားမွာ သတင္းလြတ္လပ္ခြင့္ အမွန္တကယ္ ရွိတာျဖစ္တဲ့အတြက္ တိုက္ခိုက္စရာ မလိုဘူးတဲ့။ ၿပီးေတာ့ သူက ထရမ့္ကို မယုတ္မလြန္ အမွတ္ေပးထားေလရဲ႕။ ပင္တဂြန္မွ အခ်က္အလက္ေတြ ခိုးယူထြက္ေျပးသြားတဲ့ အက္ဒြပ္ စနိုဒန္ကို လက္ခံထားျခင္း ကိုလည္း အစိတ္အပိုင္းတစ္ခု အျဖစ္ ျမင္ရမွာျဖစ္တယ္။

သတိျပဳစရာ တစ္ခ်က္က ဒီလို လက္တလုံးျခား လူလည္က်ျခင္းဟာ နိုင္ငံတကာ ဆက္ဆံေရးမွာ နာမည္ဆိုးေပမဲ့ ျပည္တြင္းမွာေတာ့ တိန္တိန္ျမည္ ေကာင္းစားေနတယ္။ ဟားဗတ္ တကၠသိုလ္ စစ္တမ္းအရ တ႐ုတ္ဗဟို အစိုးရကို လူထုေထာက္ခံမႈ ၉၀% အထက္ရွိၿပီး အေမရိကန္ အေျခစိုက္ ျပဴး (Pew Research) စစ္တမ္းအရ ႐ုရွားမွာ ပူတင္ဟာ ၈၈% လူႀကိဳက္မ်ား လွ်က္ရွိတယ္ ဆိုတာပဲ။

မဂၢလိုသီမီယာ ႏွင့္ အိုင္ဆိုသီမီယာ

ဒီႏွစ္မ်ား အတြင္း ျဖစ္ေပၚတိုးတက္မႈေတြဟာ ထူးျခားတာ အေသအခ်ာပါ။ သို႔ေသာ္ ေျဖေဆး မရွိတဲ့ အဆုံးသတ္ မဟုတ္သလို၊ ေမွ်ာ္လင့္မထားတဲ့ ကိစၥေတြလည္း မဟုတ္ပါဘူး။ အေနာက္တိုင္း ဖီေလာ္ေဆာ္ဖာေတြ အေနနဲ႕ ေနာက္ဆုံးလူသား ရင္ဆိုင္ရမယ့္ စိန္ေခၚမႈေတြကို ၁၉ ရာစု ကတည္းက ျငင္းခုန္ခဲ့ၾက တာပါ။ Tocqueville သေဘာက်ခဲ့တဲ့ အေမရိကန္ ေမာ္ဒယ္ လစ္ဘရယ္ ဒီမိုကေရစီနဲ႕ လူသားရဲ႕ ေအာင္ျမင္မႈကို နစ္ေရွး၊ ၀က္ဘာ စသူတို႔က စိုးရိမ္ပူပန္ ခဲ့ၾကတာပါ။ “ဝိဥာဥ္ကင္းမဲ့တဲ့ စပယ္ရွယ္လစ္ေတြ၊ ႏွလုံးသားမရွိတဲ့ သာယာမႈေပးသူေတြ” အၾကားက “လုပ္ယူထားတဲ့ ေပ်ာ္႐ႊင္မႈ” ကို သူတို႔ ေမးခြန္းထုတ္ ခဲ့ၾကၿပီး ျဖစ္တယ္။ အသက္နဲ႕ကိုယ္ ၿမဲၿမံေနသမွ် အသိအမွတ္ျပဳ ခံလိုတဲ့ အတၱ - thumos ရွိေနမယ့္ လူသားေတြအဖို႔ မဂၢလိုသီမီယာ - megalothymia ဒါမွမဟုတ္ အိုင္ဆိုသီမီယာ - isothymia အားထုတ္မႈ တစ္ခုခုက ရွိေနမယ္လို႔ ဆိုပါတယ္။ မဂၢလိုသီမီယာ ဆိုတာ ကိုယ္က အားလုံးထက္ သာတယ္လို႔ အသိအမွတ္ျပဳ ခံလိုတာျဖစ္ၿပီး အိုင္ဆိုသီမီယာ ကေတာ့ ကိုယ္ဟာ တန္းတူ ရွိေၾကာင္း အသိအမွတ္ျပဳ ခံလိုတာ ျဖစ္တယ္။ မဂၢလိုသီမီယာ အားေကာင္းတဲ့ American exceptionalism ေခတ္ လြန္ေျမာက္သြား ခ်ိန္မွာ ၎တို႔ဟာလည္း အေမရိကန္နဲ႕ တန္းတူျဖစ္ေၾကာင္း အသိအမွတ္ျပဳ ခံလိုတဲ့ တ႐ုတ္နဲ႕ ႐ုရွားတို႔ရဲ႕ အိုင္ဆိုသီမီယာ လႈပ္ရွားမႈေတြ ထင္ရွားလာျခင္း ျဖစ္တယ္။ ရီလစ္တစ္ဗစ္ဇင္နဲ႕ ရွင္ႀကီးနဲ႕ က်ား ဘယ္သူပိုဆိုးသလဲ ဆိုတဲ့ lesser evil တြက္ခ်က္မႈ ပိုအက်ဳံး၀င္လာဖို႔ ေရာက္လာျခင္းပါပဲ။
