Harmony of nature and nomads

The lifestyle of nomads is based on principles of protecting and restoring the nature. As nomads believe that nature is the ultimate power not humans.
2200 years ago, the first state law on nature protection was implemented by the Hun Empire - direct ancestors of Mongols. The law prohibited hunting animals, cutting down trees during summer and autumn season.
Another nature protection law passed by Chinggis khan, shows how strict they were when it comes to the protection of nature. The law stated as below:

"Whoever pollutes rivers; digs a hole in the ground after the grass has grown; and sets fire in the pasture land will be executed".

Lastly, among nomads there's an unwritten law that is still enforced to this day: "The stone you throw at sky, lands in your head".
They firmly believe that what you give to the nature will come back to you...in other words karma 💫

Drive 400 kms from the capital city of Mongolia, you will find yourself in Arkhangai province, the land of yaks. Nomadic people here have a special culture and tradition related to yaks such as yak lasso, yak polo, yak race, buckjumping yak, make dairy products from yak milk, produce yak cashmere etc.

Apart from yak culture, this region is famous for its traditional therapy and treatments as there are abundant hot, cold springs and rare medicinal plants.
