Our story

Ta’ Lonza is a welcoming traditional farmhouse in the quiet and peaceful village of Kercem, on the idyllic island of Gozo. This delightful holiday home is located directly above the Lunzjata Valley and blends into the picturesque serenity of Wied Hmar – one of the most luscious and verdant green areas on the island. The farmhouse, with the structure being mostly in its original state, has been refurbished with new solid wood furniture, cosy blinds and drapery, and airconditioning in the master bedroom. The decor has been upgraded to match the exquisite surroundings of the farmhouse and its original traditional shades of yellow globigerina limestone with which the house itself was built approximately 300 years ago. If you’re feeling adventurous, you could try and spot some of the many original tiny nooks and crannies where beams used to be placed serving as old door locks or to keep farm animals inside the rooms. Guests will find a fully stocked kitchen, including pots and pans, cutlery, dinner set, utensils, and an array of glasses. It is further completed with an electric kettle, microwave, refrigirator and freezer, electric oven and hobs, and kitchen sink area. Indulge yourself in cooking some of our Gozitan traditional meals, then eating outside on the terrace accompanied by the song of many different birds nesting and hunting in the valley. We like to refer to the master bedroom as Il-Merill. It can sleep up to a family of four (can be extended to five persons in the case of a baby/toddler – a traditional wooden baby bed can be prepared upon request). It features brand new solid furniture including a King-Size double bed, a comfortable extra double-bed size sofabed, brand new drapery and traditional cane blinds, airconditioning and comes complete with an ensuite bathroom. The master bedroom, which has been tastefully refurbished, is the most fascinating room in the farmhouse, with a balcony opening up right above the valley. Il-Merill (Blue Rock Thrush), which is Malta’s national bird, is an apt name for the master bedroom since anyone staying here will have a good chance of being enthralled by its melodious song early in the morning. At Ta’ Lonza farmhouse, old comfortably merges with the new but never overtakes the unique character of a traditional Gozitan abode which warms the heart during the mildly cold winters and cools one’s spirits during the hot Maltese summers. The farmhouse is located very close to Victoria, with the famous St. George’s Square and the historic Cittadella only fifteen minutes away if walking. It will take guests fifteen minutes or less of driving to Ramla l-Hamra, Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary, Ta’ Dbiegi Crafts Village, Xlendi Bay and Marsalforn Bay. The drive to Mgarr, where the Gozo-Malta ferry is found, will take a maximum of 20 minutes. More recommendations, including restaurants and other attractions can be found in our information file which you can refer to during your stay. No smoking is allowed in bedrooms. Smoking is only allowed in the living room, and in outdoor areas such as balconies, pool deck and roof terrace. If you have a polite pet (well trained and not destructive to furniture and property), especially if the pet serves as a service pet (health/comfort needs) you are very welcome to contact us since we do accept pets upon request especially when there is a need for them. We would be very happy to welcome you and your family at Ta’ Lonza. This property is ideal for families since it is located in a quiet residential area in a very small village. It is not a property which accomodates loud music or hen/stag nights. It is on the other hand ideal for a quiet retreat from a hectic way of life, giving you all that is needed to sit back and relax amidst nature and traditional views. Ta' Lonza sleeps up to nine persons, with the availability of a baby bed upon request. The room allocations are as follows: - The Master bedroom, or Il-Merill, can sleep up to four persons (1 King Size double bed and 1 double sofa bed) - The first floor bedroom, or Il-Pitirross (Robin), sleeps two adults on a King Size double bed. A baby bed is also available in this room, but can be moved to another room if the guests wish. - The second floor bedroom, or Il-Huttafa (Swallow), sleeps two adults on two single beds.
