EcoMarine Malta “Tourism can be Sustainable, and it can respect the ecosystem.”
We want to offer a new Eco-frien
(39)

The Mediterranean Sea surrounds Malta; a very particular closed Sea but very rich in endemic and other flagship species amongst which are eight species of cetaceans. We offer a unique experience in close contact with the sea, leading up to the actual encounter with sea mammals and other sea creatures. Our great passion and respect for the marine environment have been gained through years of on-sit

e experience through research; this is what sets us apart from other nature-based tourism activities. We aim at personalising our services on the specific needs, of our guests. The basis of this idea is the wider dissemination of environmental consciousness and sustainability. We propose excursions at sea which include dolphin and sea life watching tours, sea cave tours, free diving and also snorkelling with a small boat. We can not guarantee to see dolphins or other wild animals, but we can guarantee to have an educational, emotionally and relaxing day in the fantastic Sea that surrounds Maltese Islands. We can promise to swim in crystal clear and rich waters and to admire breathtaking views during the tour, always accompanied by the naturalistic explanations of biologists on board.

DelFishPam updadates

We are almost at the end of the data collection period for the Delfishpam project. The video shows part of it, the deployment of bottom recorders at the aquaculture site in Delimara.

We must thank for allowing us to install one of the hydrophones in their fish farm, and the operators who helped us during the various stages of placing and removing the instruments.

This allowed us to collect a lot of data, which we have slowly begun to analyze. The preliminary results are really interesting and raise slightly different questions from the initial ones.

Now comes the most challenging part: data analysis and conclusions. Stay tuned for upcoming updates

🌍 From September 6th to 16th, I had the incredible opportunity to join Viviana Premazzi as her Travel companion on the first leg of Sea. Thank you, Viviana, for inviting me to be part of this intense (though short) adventure! 🛳️

Viviana was selected as the Intercultural Communication instructor—a huge achievement on its own! On top of that, she’s one of just three professors teaching Global Studies, which covers topics like Oceanography (the blue world 🌊), Intercultural Communication, and Port country discovery

What’s even more inspiring is how this reflects the work Viviana and I started together in . It’s so similar to what we developed through our program, “Life in the Mediterranean Sea,” combining marine biology and intercultural communication for team-building and corporate training. 🌱

It’s amazing to see that our shared vision of sustainability, respect for the environment, and intercultural understanding resonates—even in an academic setting like this.

So proud to see an idea we nurtured come to life on such a global scale! 🌍💙

Yesterday, the sea conditions were not exactly ideal. However, since we started working in Malta, we have gotten used to it.

🐬Despite the wind and waves, we had a beautiful sighting of bottlenose dolphins duirng the Marine Life Spotting session.

🔍We observed various behaviors and admired them surfing the waves, a practice our finned friends truly enjoy!!

⛵On board, as always, we had wonderful people who were interested, respectful, and curious. Thank you all for contributing to our mission!

📸I Patrizia Patti even managed to capture some great shots despite the adverse conditions😁

Choose a Private Marine Life Spotting experience to celebrate special days, share memorable moments, or simply enjoy quality time together with your loved ones.

🌊Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a beautiful bachelorette gift—a experience—gifted by a wonderful girl and her friends to her sister, who is passionate about marine life and conservation. 🌊

🐬They discovered EcoMarine Malta through our website, and with only three days in Malta, they chose us for this special adventure.🐬

🐟The day was nothing short of amazing. The group was fantastic, and we enjoyed a tranquil yet emotional experience on the water. Thanks to some incredible sightings, I had the chance to capture some stunning photos. 📷

Each experience is unique, and we’re always blessed with special moments. We remain committed to following the and respecting these incredible creatures.

A big thank you to Lorraine for choosing EcoMarine Maltaarine Malta for this memorable celebration!

🌊 Thanks to the Fins into the Water project, we've created informative videos to simplify understanding!

📹 These videos aim to explain the essence of our project in an accessible and engaging manner. One key focus is on Principle 3 of Mediterranean Sea literacy, which emphasizes the critical role of our marine ecosystems as climate regulators and biodiversity hotspots.

🌍 In the face of severe weather conditions like floods and droughts exacerbated by climate change, Principle 3 becomes even more vital. It highlights the necessity of sustainable practices to preserve the Mediterranean Sea's fragile ecosystem, ensuring resilience against environmental challenges.

Join us in spreading awareness about "Fins into the Water" and the steps we're taking towards marine conservation. Watch and share our videos to inspire others to dive into action for our oceans! 🌊💙

🌊 We have a lot to learn from other MPAs (Marine Protected Areas), and this fantastic underwater camera allows us to see what a protected area looks like. It shows us how important it is to have safe spaces for fish to recover and grow healthy. ⛵

🦈MPAs are incredible resources for recovering marine ecosystems, not only within the protected areas but beyond them as well.🐟

🌊 What can we do for the ocean? 🌊

Step one: Know more about its features and its importance from many different points of view, both environmental and cultural.

This is the foundational idea behind Fins into the Water Sea Change Project:
🐬to increase knowledge about the Mediterranean Sea and its principles. By understanding the ocean better, we can protect it more effectively.

Enjoy Principle 5!

🌊 What a fantastic Tuesday we had! 🎉

We were thrilled to welcome some lovely guests on board and had an incredible experience together. We're overjoyed to share a glowing review we received from Dennis —it's heartwarming to see that our efforts are making the impact we strive for.

Our mission is to blend sustainable tourism with conservation, and knowing that our guests feel this connection is what keeps us motivated and inspired.

Thank you to everyone who supports and joins us on this journey. Together, we can make a difference! 💚🌿

Yesterday, we organised an event as part of the , in collaboration with Global Mindset Development - GMD,

🐬 "Sea and Cultures: A Walk for Respect." 🌎

🙏 I want to express my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you, our participants. Your presence and active engagement made the event truly special. ❤️

Since 2018, my collaboration with Viviana Premazzi, PhD, has been dedicated to spreading awareness about environmental conservation, inclusion, and respect for cultural diversity.

Combining and is possible, and integrating tourism with respect is the key to a better future. Our recent walk exemplified this by blending the discovery of new places with a comprehensive understanding of respect.

Participants saw familiar places through new eyes, learning and sharing insights. Spending a few hours in close contact with nature allowed us to appreciate the beauty of our planet and understand the importance of preserving it and respecting diverse cultures.

These powerful, emotionally engaging experiences will leave a lasting impact and inspire us to act for a hashtag . 🌍✨

During the walk, we had the privilege of presenting the project Fins into the Water. This initiative, along with our discussion on the principles of Mediterranean Sea literacy, is a testament to the power of collective action in environmental conservation. https://lnkd.in/dfqk-7Qi

We discussed The project hashtag to explain our research on hashtag in Maltese waters. https://lnkd.in/dCuns9ae

Great news 🐢🐢

🐢 Golden Bay turtle nest confirmed early this morning ⬇️.

Golden Bay (ir-Ramla tal-Mixquqa) is the only sandy beach within the boundary of Majjistral Park. We are delighted that the first turtle nest of the year was confirmed here!

We wish to thank Nature Trust - FEE Malta and Wildlife Rescue Team Malta for their continuous work to patrol the Maltese beaches to spot any turtle egg laying activities. They will now start to guard the nest until the eggs hatch.

Please head to their pages for any further information.

When you go to Golden Bay, as always, be aware of the site regulations displayed at the entrance.
