How to keep busy during a pandemic and mentally sane! Go back to basics. Find a good way to restick your air valves PERMANENTLY onto your leading edge bladder and struts so you never have to do it again!! I'm ready for summer. Let me know what you think of my craft work guys and girls. I used some really good stuff which will outlast me probably, it was tricky making it all come together but I'm very happy with the results and can't wait to get out on the water to test it. If you need similar work done on your kite bladders let me know and I'll give you a good deal.

Remember guys and girls if you are Malta based and want to go kiting in another spot and want to be able to rent gear to keep practicing your flips and tricks; or if you simply would like to go on your next kiteboarding holiday at an IKO recognised school in Sardinia, the Bahamas etc. come and speak to me about issuing you with your own IKO rider's card. So when you come back to Malta you can tell me all about that epic session in the BVIs or you can come and shred some waves or flat water 'in your face', I welcome it.

The 'Student of the month award' goes to Ren for being very text book in his progression. What ever I gave him to do he accomplished. Maybe it helped to have a background as wakeboarder, I don't know? Buuut... he had never flown a kite before his Pre-Flight lesson so... I'm guessing he's just got good muscle memory. By the time he was half way through his Power-Up lesson he was able to ride his first couple of meters! Wow! Below is a snapshot of his second lesson (Take-Off) where you see him performing a power body drag with good kite control. When his one wipe out got a bit hair raisingly exciting, he didn't freak out but instinctively followed the correct steps of the safety release systems and got himself out of harm's way. Well done Sir!

A Wind Hunter's Diary

Wake me up when September ends... . It seems this year the beaches have been plagued with swimming lines longer than I had hoped for. October and right in the middle of it we find ourselves itching to get out on the water.
In the meantime our nearby cousins, the surfers, have had their very own first surfing competition last Saturday without swimming line interference. That is because they cut them when the waves are good.... ;-).
The outlook is still positive though and we are getting ready for new lessons to start as soon as there is wind. I was in Gnejna Bay today, that's free of lines but still has some boats anchored in it. Let the season begin!

Eyes on the wind: Sunday April 2nd after a bit of drizzle we should see the wind pierce through and pick up to 14-16 knots WNW. Perfect time to head north for the Channel beaches and to unpack that big kite you've been saving all winter for these days.
