The nickname of clowns is given by the orange livery and the funny way of
swimming, in fact they have large rounded fins and are only suitable for
small movements.
They are otherwise called anemone fish due to their famous symbiotic re-
lationship with around ten species of sea anemones.
These fish are found in coral reefs and are very territorial.
They take refuge among the anemone's tentacles, but are immune to stinging stings. In addition to protecting themselves from predators, they feed on the leftovers and keep the anemone clean from parasites.
They are omnivorous and feed on small shrimp, plankton and algae.
Clownfish are 7 to 15 centimeters long.
Depending on the species, they can have a black, orange, black and blue
color, always with fluorescent spotted and striped patterns.
They usually live in groups and the social organization is very interesting
because it is headed by a dominant female.
They are hermaphrodites and upon the death of the female the dominant
male changes s*x, taking her place.
The female lays her eggs and begins to group them next to each other;
but it is up to the male to fertilize and preserve them.
It is up to the male to fertilize them and protect them from any dangers
perpetrated from the anemone. Thanks for amazing picture to Dr. Stefano Boriani
