My days work out ended up hiking the other side of Kaning'ina having missed the team I was to join Mzuzu Health Club.
Enjoyed this lone walk and mountain climb with some fresh breeze in the forest let's keep walking and be fit always.

Bunda Mountain is a small mountain which is 1,159m high, rising on a flat plain 20km south of Lilongwe, near Bunda College of Agriculture.

Bunda Mountain’s hiking trail is ideal for beginners and the unique decorations on the summit as well as the remarkable views from the top mak it a very popular destination for locals and tourists.

The summit is usualy crowded with locals offering their prayers and some describe the stone-walled path also known as the ‘Moses Highway’, as Malawi’s version of the Great Wall of China.

From the top, visitors can appreciate 360-degree panoramic views of Nkhoma Mountain, the sorests of the Bunda College grounds, the Kamuzu Dam and Lilongwe Township.
It is a short two-hour round trip, making it ideal for a half-day trip from Lilongwe. Hikers can easily view the following from the top of the mountain; Ngala yapakamwa,Bunda College, Malingunde Dam and Lilongwe town.

Malipenga and Honala are some of the dances performed along the lakeshore districts of Karonga,Nkhata Bay and Rumphi in addition to Mbotoska,Chilimika,Vimbuza and Visekese dance.When one gets to these areas they will indeed feel entertained.
One will never enjoy the travel without watching one of these dances and the tranquillity.

Mbande Hill is a Malawian archaeological site, located at the northern end of Lake Malawi, in Karonga district, Northern Malawi. The site has been identified as the capital of the Ngonde kingdom. Its chiefs, known as the 'Kyungu' ruled from this location. Pottery and bead finds at the site suggest it was occupied between 1500–1800 period, while the uppermost levels of excavation point to a nineteenth-century date. It is suspected that the kingdom had links with Africa's East Coast maritime trade networks. A surviving earthwork at Mbande Hill may have been part of the fortifications.

HORA MOUNTAIN: THE PLACE WHERE THE TUMBUKA FINALLY SURRENDERED TO THE NGONI

Hora Mountain is one of the most important places in Jere Ngoni history.

This is the place where the Tumbuka finally surrendered to the Ngonis.

The Tumbuka commander known as Baza Dokowe run on top of the mountain running away from the Ngoni Impis.

The Ngoni Impis simply besieged the mountain until the Tumbuka finally surrendered...

Then the Tumbuka were chased away in what the ngonis called 'Phuma uhambe'(Leave the lands or get killed)

The battle of Hora mountain cemented Mberwa's rule over Mzimba and is celebrated upto this day.

Hora Mountain is also the place where the Ngonis of Mzimba celebrate their annual 'Umthetho Festival'.

The foot of Hora Mountain is where Umthetho Festival is done every year to celebrate the Ngoni victory over the Tumbuka.

The Mzimba Heritage is lobbying government to declare Hora Mountain as a National monument and heritage site.

The Baobab tree is a tropical specie found mostly in the lakeshore and hot areas of Malawi providing the natural beauty and in addition to that people make a living out of the selling of its powder which is used in making juices popularly known as Malambe. The juice is also a good immune booster per health recommendations.

Join us on this upcoming September trip to learn more about MV Viphya, which sank in 1946, through community guides and old folks who were around during the time.

Tcharo-Livingstonia Trail. has a beautiful scenic footpath along the lake shore in the Northern Region of Malawi.

It is designed to accommodate various fitness levels as it has shortcuts and extensions. It is recommended as a must-see trail by our team. The trail can start from Nkhatabay( Usisya) and Livingstonia in Chitimba (Rumphi).
