Depending on the whales, the boat will either go to the Pacific Ocean just off the Cabo shoreline or into the Sea of Cortez. Even if you have been whale watching before in Alaska, there is nothing to compare to the whale activity in Cabo...the whales are feeding in Alaska, in Cabo San Lucas they are mating and giving birth.
