British former VW owner, David, wrapped up his weekend in Cancún with a half-day tour of the city. Surprises such as the remarkable church in the suburbs by the jungle was his favourite but also understood the history and culture of different parts of the city and saw the best beach in Cancún.
David is a Brit who knew all about the Aztecs since childhood but wanted now to get to know the Maya, not just the historic buildings but also how and where they live today. We visited Ek Balam to see the ruins, but also a couple of villages with more colonial style architecture and a village specialising in smoked meats and making sausages famous in the region.
Ben, Miyumi & Maggie visited Mexico for the first time this December getting away from Chicdgo’s mid-winter. Ben (or Binh to give his Vietnamese name) is a history buff and wanted to spend the day at Chichén Itzá. With a private tour by Señor Travel Bug we could make his dream come true!
Seattle-based Suman and Smruti visited Chichén Itzá yesterday with their son, and for their love of history and historical sites we focused on time at that modern wonder of the world, spending more than three hours learning about the Maya, their lifestyle, history and uses of the buildings. A Mayan lunch, in the ‘magic town’ that is Valladolid, with local Mayan ingredients such as chaya, and then a visit to two cenotes rounded out the day. Each tour is unique, listening to our client’s interests. Try for yourself!

The final of three days with Naomi, Mark and their family. Today we visited Tulum for its ruins, beaches, artesanal beer and unique architectural and fabric style and wrapped up the day swimming with turtles at Akumal, ‘the place of the turtles’ (in the Mayan language). I have LOVED getting to know this family- absolutely top drawer people.
Full day tour of Cancún
Day 2 of 3 with a family from Northamptonshire, England. Staying 90 minutes south, they wanted to spend a day getting to know the highlights and various sides of Cancún itself. They saw lighthouses, beaches, ruins, an upscale marina, ate seafood lunch on the beach, visited a unique church, swam in the Caribbean and danced in the streets of the hotel zone. Oh…and enjoyed the classic VW Beetle experience of course!
