Guests on our December 17th tour - here is the ID of one of the Humpbacks we saw!

Thanks to the good people at Happywhale who do amazing work to enhance the understanding of the Humpback whale populations!

First seen in 1992 in California, we have recorded 'Pointu' in 2 consecutive seasons here in Huatulco!

This whale is known as a male by behavior, seen as principal es**rt in a competitive group, in Nicaragua during the SPLASH project, research conducted by Cascadia Research Collective and collaborators. Also formerly CRC-16349

Wonderful day in the marine paradise of Huatulco!

Our 2 hour offshore adventure in the morning encountered a huge group of Common dolphins (400+) that were very active, then a smaller group of Coastal Spotted dolphins (30+) and in between too many sea turtles to count (30+)!

The mid day ocean adventure encountered a Humpback pair of mother and calf, Coastal Spotted dolphins, sea turtles and then snorkeled the reef at our Secret Reef in the

Guests on our December 15th Ocean Adventure tour - these are the Humpback whales we saw!

All three are new individuals for our Project Megaptera ID catalog & as always, huge thanks to HappWhale...

Today the early tour encountered a large (100+) group of active Coastal Spotted dolphins - which we enjoyed listening to on the hydrophone - and stopped counting around 30 Olive Ridley sea turtles 🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐢

The mid day tour encountered another large (50+) group of active Coastal Spotted dolphins, enjoyed some great views of 3 Humpback whales and caught glimpses of another 2 Humpbacks whales, 8 Olive Ridley sea turtles and snorkeled our secret reef in the 🤩🐳🐳🐳🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐢🐡🐡🐠🐠🐠💙

Guests on our December 13 Ocean Eco Adventure - this is one of the whales we encountered! It is the first time this whale has been recorded south of Puerto Vallarta, although it seems to be a member of the Central American population segment as it has not been seen further north than California in the summers (97% of the Central American population feed off California in the summertime).

It is also a new Project Megaptera Humpback whale for the Huatulco Humpback whale catalog!

Today's Ocean Adventure started out with 30+ Bottlenose dolphins close to the coast, then we cruised offshore and found 200+ Spinner dolphins! Along the way we saw 30+ Olive Ridley sea turtles, a jumping Manta ray, some Mobula rays, hundreds of Shearwaters and finally snorkeled the reef at the 🤩🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐡🐠🐠💙

Common dolphins porpoising in front of our boat Stenella! It has been getting really wild offshore these days! 😍
Today; 4 Humpback whales, 150+ Common dolphins, 8-12 Bottlenose dolphins, 30+ Coastal Spotted dolphins, 30+ Sea turtles, 10+ Mobula/Manta rays, 2 Sailfish, 400+ Shearwaters surface feeding and 2 Yellow Bellied sea snakes, before we even cruised back to the coast to snorkel the 🤩🐳🐳🐳🐳🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐍🐡🐡🐠🐠💙

Epic morning with 3 Humpback whales - still early in the season tho! One whale was swimming offshore surrounded by Pantropical Spotted dolphins and two whales were closer to the coast accompanied by Rough-toothed dolphins! Mixed species cetacean interaction is not understood by science, but it is amazing to watch!
We also saw a group of Coastal Spotted dolphins racing along the coast and 20+ Olive Ridley sea turtles!
Then we snorkeled the reefs of the What an epic morning 🤩🐳🐳🐳🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐡🐡🐠🐠🐠💙

One (of the many!) Coastal Spotted dolphins we saw today had very unusual markings - a large white patch - at first we thought it might be scarring from an injury - but it seems just an abundance of spots!
We also enjoyed listening to a group of very chatty and inquisitive juvenile Spotted dolphins on the hydrophone, saw 10+ Olive Ridley sea turtles and snorkeled La India in the 🤩🐬🐬🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐡🐡🐠🐠🐠💙

It's getting VERY exciting offshore of Huatulco with more Humpback whales arriving, almost daily now! Today we also saw a large group of Spotted dolphins racing westward, mating pairs of both Green sea turtles and Olive Ridley sea turtles before snorkeling the 🤩🐳🐳🐬🐬🐬🐬🐢🐢🐢🐡🐠🐠💙
