Great parade through the streets of "Meida" of the mythical figures, between the devilish and the animalistic, that traditionally accompany the arrival of St Nicholas in the villages of the valley

About 500 "devils", led by the hosts"'I Krampus da Poza" and coming from Trentino, South Tyrol, Veneto and Austria, will take part in the seventh Krampus parade in Pozza. According to tradition, the "devils" accompany the arrival of St Nicholas, the patron saint of Pozza, on 6 December. These figures with an appearance somewhere between the animalistic and the diabolical, in a mixture of the sacred and the profane that merges into rituals linked to the passage of the seasons, are an integral part of Ladin culture. Traditionally, their mission is to "scare" naughty children, but not only. So, wearing cattle skins, chains, cowbells, tall wooden clogs and, above all, wooden masks with terrifying expressions, the Krampus set off from the church of St Nicholas to continue along the central street "Strada de Meida" (closed to traffic), lit by specially lit fires (inside bins), cordoned off and guarded by the town's fire brigade and local municipal police. Once they reach the square "Piaza de Comun", where the performances of the 20 groups take place, devils and the public gather in the events pavilion, where the "Krampusparty" to the rhythm of live music starts after 8 p.m.

How long is the Trans-Siberian?

Many believe that the Trans-Siberian is a train. In reality, the Trans-Siberian is not a train but a railway line. Many trains travel along this railway line that make up the journey.

Several trains travel along the Trans-Siberian line. Each train travels a part of the entire route. Each train also has its own timetables, frequencies, booking system and characteristics, different from those of the other trains.

The official inauguration of the works took place on May 31, 1891: the ceremony was held near Vladivostok, in the presence of Tsarevich Nicholas, the future Emperor Nicholas II, who symbolically transported the first wheelbarrow of earth. The laying of the tracks for the entire Siberian Grand Road was completed ten years later, on November 3, 1901, when the builders of the Chinese Eastern Railway met those of the Trans-Siberian Railway.

The speed of construction had maintained the impressive average of 740 km per year. The workforce employed at the height of construction reached about ninety thousand men, many of whom were prisoners sentenced to forced labor, and thousands died from the terrible working conditions.
