My family and I: standing on the left, my dad standing next to him, my younger brother, sitting on the right, my older sister and I, of course on the left side... I have 2 other brothers, but they did not accompany us that day to the October Festivities
Today we celebrate the Mexican Revolution, a conflict that lasted many more years than expected, basically a civil war against the injustices committed against the working class (I believe that the conflict in some way continues)

In the first quarter of the 17th century, the church was completed. "The church has three naves, with arches covered with coffered wood and lacework and the most decorated in the city. It has ten altars and chapels very well decorated and gilded with very good painted and assembled altarpieces, and the main altar has an altarpiece very large with very beautiful painting with images of saints, a mass of sculpture, and the entire golden chapel, and the main arch from top to bottom up to the steps."
As time went by, the church was in very poor condition and it was necessary to demolish the old tower, because it was a great danger to the construction; So the reconstruction began (1684), taking advantage of the walls to raise it higher and the tower that is with us today was made. The church was rebuilt with a single vaulted nave, all at the request of Brother Miguel de Aledo, and the work was completed by Brother Antonio de Avellandeda in 1692. In the early years of the 18th century, Brother José de Orozco rebuilt the convent and He continued to beautify the church; Brother José Oliván installed a beautiful organ in the temple, which Brother Luis de Palacio said had "very sweet voices, which the canons envied for many years."
The missing chapels were those of the Holy Cenacle, San Antonio de Padua, the Third Order or San Roque, that of the Holy Sepulcher and that of the Novitiate.
In 1825 it was agreed to remove all the Churriguesca richness and beauty from its golden altars, and in 1826, in the provincialship of Fray Francisco Padilla, they were just removed and replaced by neoclassical altars.
In 1860 the exclaustration came. In 1861 the chapels of San Antonio de Padua and San Roque and the stone fence that surrounded the convent were demolished.
A good part of the convent was sold and divided up, another part was once a women's prison, and later barracks and stables:

On February 11, 1810, Manuel Gómez Ibarra was born in Guadalajara, who is recognized as one of the great Guadalajara architects. He completed his studies at the State Institute of Sciences from which he graduated between 1835-1836. Later he entered the Academy of Fine Arts where he was a disciple of the architect José Gutiérrez. Among his notable works are the Cathedral Towers, the Reform of the Mexicaltzingo Church, the Archbishop's Palace, the Portico of the Pilar Parish, the vaults of the Temple of San José de Analco; the repair of the University Portico, the Sanctuary of the Villa de San Pedro; the Sanctuary of Lord San José, the main Altar of the Sanctuary of Guadalupe, and the Pantheon of Bethlehem. Gómez Ibarra's legacy is enormous; few architects inherited such majestic works that speak to us of a glorious Guadalajara past. Images: Cathedral Towers; Temple of San José, The University, Pantheon of Bethlehem.

of the Dead
We Mexicans play with death, we make corridos, but despite that game and that mockery, we have a respect for it that is manifested in various ways, one of them and perhaps the most important, is the celebration of "Days of the Dead." ".

On the first and second days of November, the vast majority of the country's inhabitants offer offerings to the dead either at home or in the cemeteries. These days are used to spend with the dead, share food with them, decorate the tombs, burn copal and why not, toast with them and for them.

In the past, it was believed that the dead needed food to reach their final destination, so when they died, food, water, offerings and various objects were left with them. This tradition was mixed and adapted to the Christian calendar on November 1 and 2.

At number 272 of the old Santuario street, today called Pedro Loza, is this unmistakable house that Don José María Corvera Pacheco commissioned in 1909 from the renowned and award-winning Guadalajara engineer Luis Ugarte Vizcaíno, who, by the way, also built the formidable building that Today he occupies the Treasury of the State of Jalisco and for approximately 20 years he directed the work of the Expiatory Temple. When Don José María died, Don Ramiro Villaseñor says on page 346 of his book: The Historic Streets of Guadalajara, that the house was acquired by Dr. Banda. The house is structurally in good condition and only requires some finishing repairs.
Cristero General Manuel Michel narrates in his "Memoirs of Him" that the heads of the Western Military Control met at that address to establish military strategies against the Callista government.

The Degollado Theater
C. 50s of the last century.
The mosaic by artist Roberto Montenegro representing Apollo and the nine muses can still be seen. Years later, in 1964, it was replaced by the marble relief by the sculptor Benito Castañeda that we can currently admire.

San Cristobalazo, big big hands, big big legs...
When are you marrying me?.....request from the tapatias who felt they were "staying away"
San Cristobalito, little hands, pretty legs... when are you going to take it away from me?
Request from the same tapatias, when they got married and got a "seal".... that is, the aforementioned was a fiasco.....this is a very fashionable anecdote in the 50s.
Drunkards also had to do with Saint Christopher, they said that if a drunk stood under him... he would drop a kind of spear that he had in his hand... on his head... .for that reason...I didn't get close to him!

Guadalajara corners!
Casona López Rosales.
On the current Andador Fray Antonio Alcalde and Joaquín Ángulo street is one of the most extraordinary farms in the old city, originally owned by Don Aurelio López Rosales, son of Don Félix López (died in 1878) and Doña Carmen Rosales.
Don Aurelio López Rosales inherited the tequila factory of San José del Refugio in Amatitan Jalisco from his mother, Mrs. Carmen Rosales. At the end of the 19th century, he modernized the tequila manufacturing processes, naming his product with the brand "Herradura" that until today exists.
Around 1915, the architect Guillermo de Alba built this house for Don Aurelio with a French style with Art Nouveau touches; Don Aurelio lived in Paris for some time and therefore wanted to build a house that would remind him of that city.
Don Aurelio decided on this area due to three main reasons derived from his great and enormous Catholic faith that he professed as well as being a sympathizer with his sister María de Jesús of the Cristero movement (1926 - 1929), having on the same street as his home the Sanctuary of Guadalupe and, the temple of San José and the Metropolitan Cathedral earning the nickname "El Cristero".
Currently the property is in the process of restoration and remodeling.
