Did you know that chocolate comes from a seed called cocoa?

Mexico was the first country to cultivate the cocoa bean. The ancient Mexicans roasted and mixed the seeds with water, resulting in a rich and bitter drink that they called “xocolatl”.

Over the years this delicious drink reached Europe, where they added sugar to make it sweeter. Later, in England, the first chocolate as we know it today was manufactured.

Cocoa seeds were also used as coins to purchase different products of daily life.

Both in Mexico and in Europe, chocolate was only available to the privileged classes, since it was quite an expensive item.

Over time, chocolate became increasingly popular, to the extent that it is one of the most coveted foods to this day.

Chocolate is an important part of the human diet, it not only provides an explosion of delicious flavors to our palate, it is also very good for people's health in many aspects: it helps prevent heart disease, improves brain function, reduces the risk of producing diabetes and promotes the feeling of well-being, among many other benefits.
