En un paseo respetuoso pero ameno entre tumbas , osarios y mausoleos ️ llenos de detalles arquitectónicos 🪦, desenterraremos esas historias que nos conectan en más de un sentido con los personajes que en años pasados construyeron la Mérida de hoy.
Dejemos que las lápidas y el territorio te permitan conocer los primeros años de México 🇲🇽 y Mérida ️ (¡incluso de antes!) en este fascinante recorrido ‍en el Cementerio General de Mérida. Desde la independencia hasta la Revolución y el paso de Elvia y Felipe Carrillo, por Yucatán, sin dejar de contar artistas y poetas, políticos y demás personajes interesantes que viven en la identidad de este territorio.

Abbie, our great friend from Mexico City g*e us the opportunity to take her to be one of the first generations on walking by "The Temple of Birds", name given by archaeologist because of the wholes characteristic of this ancient construction and recently opened to the public after the dedicated intervention of National Institute of History and Anthropology.

Our friends from Canada! 🇨🇦 and that are also our neighbors in Mérida, the three of them eager to discover every corner of the city! This time we went to the oldest cemetery in Mérida: Cementerio General. 🪦🎚
In a two hours in our "town inside the town", we went from graves, tombs, ossuarys and mausoleums with the evolving architecture of two centuries, exploring the mexican relationship with our beloved who has passed away, hearing the thrilling, shocking and moving stories that built nowadays Mérida.

Who is "Masiosare"?

It is actually "más si osare". Which is late 1800's writing and belongs to our national anthem The whole phrase says "Mas si osare un extraño enemigo profanar con su planta tu suelo" and is translated as "If any stranger enemy dares to profane with his blood your land".

Funny thing is that when is being sung, is said "Masiosare" all together, followed by "a stranger enemy", so it can also be read as "Masiosare, an stranger enemy". So, somehow, as a nation, we decided that "Masiosare" was actually a person that became our enemy.

How about we keep learning some modern mexican spanish?
