What is Day of the Dead in México?

A Mexican tradition celebrated from October 31st to November 2nd.

During this time, families build ‘ofrendas,’ altars adorned with marigold flowers, candles, sugar skulls, and the favorite foods and drinks of their deceased loved ones.

The purpose is to welcome back the spirits of the departed, bridging the gap between the living and the dead.

If you would like to experience Day of the Dead with LOCA, I'll be hosting a fun and informative workshop on the 1st and 2nd of November.

After the workshop, we'll take a stroll on the malecon to visit all the altars and of course the magnificant and gigantic Catrina!!

The emotion of releasing baby turtles into the ocean is a powerful, heartwarming, and humbling experience.

Also, there is a hopeful element in releasing the turtles, knowing that although not all will survive, every release contributes to the survival of an ancient species.

I am grateful for the chance to experience this monumental event with my LOCA members and I'm very grateful for the biologists who fight so hard to protect the turtle population.

Whale season is just around the corner!!

I submitted this photo from our whale watching tour last year! They named the whale, "Blizzard" who was last seen on the California coast!

Although official whale watching season starts mid December, you will often see them in the bay as early as October! 🐳💙
