Guaranteed to relax! Deborah McLaren is a sustainable tourism consultant, trainer, author and a travel writing instructor at the Loft Literary Center and at folk schools. She has assisted communities around the world in developing their “local flavor” for the benefit of locals and visitors. Deborah has been seen hiking the Himalayas, eating chili crickets in Oaxaca, swimming the Amazon, and meditating on the Great Wall of China. She enjoys organizing volunteer tours and other small group travel. She was the founder of Rethinking Tourism Project and author of Rethinking Tourism and Ecotravel (Kumarian Press, 1998 and 2002). Local Flavor is a St. Paul based organization dedicated to responsible tourism – supporting and strengthening independent businesses and organizations involved in local food, art, culture, heritage and slow travel. Part of your registration fee is donated to a local cause in Troncones – to be determined as a group while we are there.
