A wonderful morning birding south of Merida! After a very nice walk on the forest, and just as we were talking about how wonderful ant-swarms are for birding, we came across one! Woodcreepers, Black Catbird, Yucatan Jays and many more birds where on the hunt for all of the small critters running away from the ants!

Red-lored Amazons are one of the biggest parrots found in the Yucatan. Their native populations can be found in the southern part of the Peninsula. We often see them in Merida as many pairs of these species escaped from the zoo many years ago.
