Rest assured:
1. He is not a Wix advisor
2. He used your own email in the respond to box
3. He hasn't actually visited your website.
4. Your website doesn't have code errors.
5. Google isn't going to reindex your site (well, not because of anything he said, anyway!)

It's been a while, thankfully, since I got scammed. But today I got hooked.

An email appeared in my inbox, and it just so happened I was looking for some stock photo resources. How timely! I thought.

Gotta say, the StockMojo approach was slick. Seems legit! Right???

So I signed up, luckily I chose paypal.

Well things got funky really quick. Suddenly I'm spammed with emails offering more and more upgrades. The 'account verification' link took me to some other websites and before I knew it they also had my email and potential password while I tried to sign into the dang software.

Finally got to the right place, only to have the "software" throw a server error as I tried to log in.

So please be cautious of great offers, slick websites AND fake reviews propagated all over the net.

Don't bother checking your website for spelling errors, this one doesn't exist! It's just marketing spam!

"Pay My Colleague" Scam

Web designers are copping it again with the "PAY MY COLLEAGUE scam.

This "lead" came through on my Service Seeking dashboard this morning.

Familiarize yourself with the language used. Look at the high price!

How does the scam work?

The scam is that they rope unsuspecting web designers in with the high price.

Then they say "we are workiing with a copywriter/designer in your area, do you mind if we include their pay with yours, and can you just pay them for us because they don't have paypal/stripe/a bank account. ???"

Nek minut, you've handed over a couple of thousand and oh wait, they actually haven't paid you, that paypal receipt they sent you was a mockup!

Not breaking any laws just breaking a designer's heart.




This scamwatcher has already called this guy out once before for passing-off as the designer of work created by others. Now operating under another name, this person is still producing embarassingly poor quality work. I guess that's not a crime in most counties. However, they are part of the Wix Arena, which brings down the overall "tone" of Wix's otherwise excellent service.

They are also no doubt in breach of .com's trademark as they use the word Wix in their url. Also, they purport to be in LA when they're actually in Hazifabad Pakistan.

Hope you get on top of that .

Found this classic on their home page, then checked out the portfolio and found that each and every client site had been designed incorrectly. An experienced Wix designer will see the massive errors that completely invalidate just about every site.

Those poor clients! Strangely, they all seem to have written absolutely glowing testimonials. hmmm.
