Ilaika is a pioneer in the Greater Kuala Lumpur concept shop sector, and its eclectic assortments have become a haven for the creative artists and personalities who surround it. Ilaika, which is located in Petaling Jaya, stands in stark contrast to the area's reputation. Ilaika elevates the companies and people who live there by bridging brands, concept products, coffee, and the local arts and culture. The store, which opened in November 2016, was built on the corner of a series of shop lots. Ilaika does not appear to be a concept store, with restaurants, car workshops, and a myriad of other businesses surrounding it. A passerby would be perplexed by a trolley cart hung from the storefront and tube lights inside that resembled signage spelling 'One Half x Ilaika' in the bottom right corner. One would not expect a store with such a strong cultural presence to remain hidden. Ilaika has become a household name for people in search of a brew of espresso, brands from around the world, and the opportunity to be surrounded by like-minded persons thanks to the help of the denizen youth, their usage of the internet, and their love of coffee.
