Dragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday which falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, which is in late May or June on the Gregorian calendar.

There are many legends about the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival. The most popular one is in commemoration of Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan (340–278 BC) was a patriotic poet and exiled official during the Warring States Period of ancient China. He drowned himself in the Miluo River on the 5th day of the 5th Chinese lunar month, when his beloved Chu State fell to the State of Qin.

It is said that the local people, who admired him, raced out in their boats to save him, or at least retrieve his body, which is believed to be the origin of the dragon boat race. When his body could not be found, they dropped balls of sticky rice into the river so that the fish would eat them instead of Qu's body. This is traditionally held to be the origin of zongzi (dumpling) as the food during the festival.

Have blissful dragon boat (dumpling) festival..

Church of St. Jude Thaddeus, Rawang
Inaugurated on 28th October 1957 by the Bishop of Kuala Lumpur Diocese.

The church, built on a small piece of land on a hillock in 1957, has today become a prime land marked by the state government for development of a new township called “Bandar Baru Rawang”. With the fast development taking place surrounding our present church land, the church was required to move to a new and bigger place at this present location.

St Jude church, which was once known as Tamil parish, has today grown tremendously and become a multi-lingual church.
During the feast of St Jude, thousands of pilgrims and devotees come from all parts of the country, including Singapore. The tradition of providing free food, which was started with the first feast day celebration, has continued to date.
