Sugud Forest Reserve offers beautiful scenery with trees surrounding the area. Walking alongside the road early in the morning gives a chance to observe a variety of lowland birds. One can observe raptor high in the sky flying past the ridge, bulbuls, white-eye, nuthatch and others.

Just about 1 hour walk down the hill, there is a waterfall where locals visit during holidays to spend the day.

Sugud Forest Reserve is one of the places one can spend searching for forest birds within the Greater Kota Kinabalu area. Just spend two hours walking along the road can produce some bird species to add to your bird list.

You will have the biggest possibility to see the endemic Proboscis Monkey, the elusive Silver Langurs, the salty or riverine crocodile, the magnificient hornbills, the colourful kingfishers, the efficient birds of prey, the beautiful Balck and red broadbill and many more. Who knows, you will even have the rare chance of spotting our endemic Bornean elephants and the rare Orang Utans.

You will be enlightened by the experty of the local guide who has the eye of an eagle, to spot even the tiny frog from across the river. You have to experience it to believe it.

Car rental for September 2022 at Sandakan. Type of car is Dmax Isuzu. Can fit in maximum 4 passengers.

Day trip rental rate is RM250 with driver. Driving around Sandakan town, Sepilok, Labuk Bay, Rainforest Discovery Centre.

Day trip rental rate to Kinabatangan River and return is RM450 with driver. Travel 140km to Kinabatangan to do the river cruise before returning to Sandakan on the aame day.

The turtle island park, the famous turtle conservation area for the Green Turtle and the Hawksbill Turtle.

Located on the east coast of Sabah, about 40 km north of Sabdakan town, this is a gem of Sandakan. Efforts of conservation have been ongoing since 1927 until today. The numbers of turtle have increased significantly. But we do not rest on our laurel as the threat from human activities and nature continue putting the turtle at great risks of becoming extinct.

So that is why the park really need your support by visiting the island and also adopting the nest on nightly basis.

I was so fortunate to meet them at Sandakan, to bring and guide them to Selingan Island. I did not know that they were such a famous couple. When Tazz told me that they were doing YouTube, I mentioned casually that they were influencers, Tazz humbly said they were not. Now I know they trully are indeed influencers. I am one of the fans now. Hope you go a long way Tazz and Liddy. You guys rock!
