Railway Tracks in FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia)
The railway tracks found in Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) in Kepong was sometimes mistaken for interesting stories, some say it was remnant section joining to Batu Arang or to Tanjong Malim etc adding juice to story, later dismantled by Japanese for Burma Death Railways # .
Met an officer in the dept, she mentioned. it was an experimental track to find the durability of the railway slippers (wood under the iron track). FRI was established in the 1920s on about 1500 acre of land, previously tin mining & vegetable garden. FRIM is not a Primary Forest but Planted secondary forest, to normal eyes it doesn’t matter, lot of fresh air & great place to explore

Lovely couple, to my suprise Dorothy was an English literature teacher who introduced "Pantun" (in Eng) to her students in US. My school memories kicked in when she mentioned pantun. There was a Malay gentlemen sitting next to us, addressed him "abang ingat pantun pisang emas?" (Brother do you remember pantun pisang emas ?) Surely .. he goes on, continued till end ! my memory refreshed & begin to share some of the menings ... it dawn in my soul how deep the meaning of this folk "Pantun"

Pisang emas dibawa berlayar,
masak sebiji di atas peti,
Hutang emas boleh dibayar,
Hutang budi dibawa mati.

Beautiful ! & Thai restaurant - water body infront (1st pic) is not a river but a part of waters flowing from strait of Malacca. This place is sandwiched bwt 2 islands ie. Carey & Indah (port mainly) & Langat & Klang rivers

Untill death apart - Petaling street "couple"

Came across again this very elderly loving couple (1st pic) in tour around Kuala Lumpur. Told the mix nationality guests in walk"this's a loving couple !!" Grandpa with extreme patient holds grandma's hand every time.
The otherday on this walk, saw how slowly they went across the 20' Petaling stree with extreme patients each step grandpa takes he waits for grandma to follow (even much much slower than a toddler) it's rare sight in today's society. Thanking GOD for they are able to move about

Canopy walk @ Bukit Nanas / Weld hill
Many city dwellers may not aware of Eco forest park in the middle of Kuala Lumpur #. Wt many missing out is the canopy walk, waiting to give a fine overview of our bt Nanas forest.
One, only need to walk 5-10min before reaching to foot of canopy walk from jalan Raja Chulan.... Give it a try soon Eco Forest Park may impose entrance fee soon but for now free!

walk through the historic royal town Klang...which is said to be older than Melaka. Klang has been recorded in Admiral Cheng Ho's journeys maps too!

Take the early train from KL at 7.30am and have breakfast in Klang :)

The 5 foot way / kaki 5 / 5 adi (in tamil)
1880s when Frank Swettenham mooted the new Kuala Lumpur town planning after great flood & fire destroyed vast area of KL. (1881)
The 5 foot pathway was included to shelter people from rain & heat of sun, though it looks public but actually the land belongs to the shophouse owners. As the law goes, the owners must not block the 5 foot path way & the up keeping supposed to be by the sanitary board (town council). Over the years it was maintain by the owners.
The early days of Kuala Lumpur along High street (Tun HS Lee - now) the shop owners hv let (rented) 5 foot for overnight usually with a foldable bed (wooden canvas). This are people who unable to rent a room. At this time the tennant fold all valuables as pillow & lay to rest their head.
