It is with regret that the Layang Layang Island Resort has to postpone its season opening to 2024.
To our guests who have made reservations for the promotional package in late 2022, rest assured that your bookings remain. Understandingly this is very upsetting, our team will be in touch with you personally.
🔔FAQ:🔔
Q: How is this possible?
A: The island is under the full jurisdiction of the Malaysian Government, and the resort has to take instructions accordingly.
Q: What is happening? Why the postponement?
A: This is under orders of the Malaysian Government. We are made to understand that the airport upgrades are underway to serve you better.
Q: I’ve paid a deposit, is it cancelled?
A: Absolutely not. Your reservation with the resort along with preferred travel dates remains valid throughout 2024.
Q: I don’t feel like going anymore. Do I get a refund?
A: Based on T&Cs of the promo, deposits paid are non-refundable. HOWEVER, it is transferable.
Q: I can’t get a replacement. What can I do?
A: We wouldn’t want you to lose your deposit, therefore, we will on a best-level basis attempt to find replacements.
Q: How sure are you that the resort will open in 2024?
A: We are in close and constant communication with the resort, and the resort maintains its commitment to open in 2024.
Q: Will the resort shut down permanently?
A: No. The resort along with its shareholders has a long-standing reputation, track record, and is the sole operator at Layang Layang since 1993.
Q: Will there be any price increase in 2024?
A: Yes. Our data indicate that regular dive packages typically increase an average of 15% y-o-y. Notwithstanding, your promotional package booked will NOT be affected, the same goes for the replacement for package transfers.
Q: When will the 2024 season open?
A: Indicative target opening in April 2024, and ending in July/August 2024. Confirmed schedule is targeted to be out within 3Q2023.
Q: What happens next?
A: Our team will keep you informed as soon as well get updates from the resort.

Jacques-Yves Cousteau, considered by many to be the quintessential underwater explorer, often nicknamed the “father of scuba diving”. He, alongside Emile Gagnon invented the modern regulator known as the aqualung introduced in 1946, which gave birth to recreational diving that we all love to this very day.
While Mr Cousteau may be a legend, we also have legends of our very own who moves fire and earth for his family. Happy Fathers Day to all the dad’s out there! THANK YOU for providing for the family with so much strength, comfort, wisdom and happiness! 🥰🤙😎

Happy Boxing Day! Here we have a boxing crab a.k.a pompom crab a.k.a Lybia Tessallata 🌸🦀🥊
These crabs wield sea anemones attached to its claws with the anemone's stinging tentacles serving as a defence mechanism. In return, the pompom boxer crab feed their helpful partners by utilizing the anemone's tentacles to collect food particles then subsequently digesting the debris to providing adequate meals for both, making the most unlikely friends and one that is a unique symbiotic relationship in the entire underwater kingdom.
While we now know boxing day as a shopping holiday, it originated as a holiday to give gifts to the less fortunate.
Let's keep this traditional spirit alive by helping our community in these crazy times, just as how the pompom boxer crabs and anemones do.

Yep... the Malaysian Northeast Monsoon is coming. According to the Malaysian Metrological Dept, expect to experience bouts of heavy downpours starting early-November till January with the monsoon ending around March. So check the weather before going for that long overdue vacay 😎

Sea 🐊making an appearance at Gaya Island, Sabah Reckon it was captured near the settlements at the island 🤔🤷♂️ While spotting sea crocs are rare in the area, be on the lookout when diving there next. A wildlife expert once told us that sea crocs are usually harmless whilst underwater, so it's suggested that you dive a little deeper IF you see 'em. Didn't manage to test that piece of knowledge as diving with crocs are still on our bucketlist 🙃But a little info wouldn't harm, you can thank us gator. . . .
