Program Idaman Geosite Clean-up (IGSC) bersama Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampong Salang, Perlis

8 Februari 2025 | Seramai 35 orang guru dan staf bersama 10 orang pelajar dibawa masuk ke Langkawi Geopark Discovery Centre bagi memperolehi informasi berkaitan LUGGp sebelum bergerak ke kawasan pembersihan.

Peserta program telah melaksanakan aktiviti pembersihan di kawasan pantai Gua Cherita, Kilim dan berjaya mengumpulkan sebanyak 130 kg sampah. Inisiatif ini bertujuan memupuk kesedaran dan tanggungjawab dalam pemuliharaan alam sekitar, di mana sahaja kita berada!

Lawatan Puspanita Kementerian Pertanian & Keterjaminan Makanan ke Langkawi Geopark Discovery Centre

8 Februari 2025 | Langkawi Geopark Discovery Centre (LGDC) telah menerima kunjungan daripada Puspanita Cawangan Kementerian Pertanian dan Keterjaminan Makanan, diketuai oleh YBhg. Datin Seri Noor Laili binti Hamzah bersama 30 delegasi.
Lawatan ini turut disertai oleh Pn. Sarahanas binti Mohd Aminal Rashid, Pengerusi Puspanita LADA, Cik Nordiana binti Nordin, Timbalan Pengurus Bahagian Pelancongan serta pegawai-pegawai Bahagian Pelancongan dan Puspanita LADA. Selain lawatan ke LGDC, delegasi turut mengadakan lawatan ke Gua Buaya, Gua Kelawar, Kilim Pinakel dan beberapa geotapak lain di sekitar Kilim Karst Geoforest Park.

Peserta lawatan berpeluang untuk memahami lebih mendalam tentang warisan geologi, biodiversiti, dan kepentingan pemuliharaan di Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark.

20-21 January 2025 | Langkawi proudly welcomed representatives from the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) as part of the preparatory arrangements for two significant events ASEAN Ministerial in June 2025 and the Joint Malaysia-Russian Commission for Economic, Scientific, Technical, and Cultural Cooperation in November 2025.

Langkawi Geopark is honoured to provide the perfect setting for these discussions, which blend academic excellence and international collaboration with the island’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.

18 January 2025 | We were honoured to welcome the delegation from the Special Senior Officials Meeting on Energy (SOME) of the Philippines to Langkawi Geopark.

The visit included:
🚩 A tour of the Langkawi Geopark Discovery Centre, showcasing the island’s rich geological heritage, sustainability initiatives, and community-led projects.
🛶 A breathtaking boat tour of Kilim Karst Geoforest Park, exploring its ancient limestone formations, mangrove ecosystems, and diverse wildlife.

This visit provided a platform for sharing insights on integrating sustainable energy practices with geotourism and environmental conservation.

𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗮𝘄𝗶 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗘𝘅𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗦𝗘𝗔𝗡+𝟯 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 (𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸)

13-15 January 2025 | Held in Langkawi, Kedah, this event organized by the Ministry of Finance Malaysia through the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) showcased local entrepreneurs and their products to ASEAN+3 delegates.

Among the local products that captured attention were batik-based crafts, crystal and mengkuang handicrafts, pure virgin coconut oil, and a range of health products made from gamat.

The delegates took this opportunity to purchase local products as souvenirs, amplifying the promotion of Langkawi's local goods within the ASEAN region and creating a multiplier effect on the local economy.

WEAVING HOPE PROJECT

In the context of the 11th International Conference of UNESCO Global Geoparks 2025, the Global Geoparks Network invites Geopark members to actively participate in the “Weaving Hope” initiative, a project developed by Kutralkura UNESCO Global Geopark and the Catholic University of Temuco.

This project aims to showcase the diversity of cultural heritage through the creation of textile pieces representing each territory, which will be proudly displayed at the conference venue in Kutralkura UNESCO Global Geopark, Chile. This remarkable artwork, interweaving colourful threads, symbolizes our network’s connection, the uniqueness of our cultural heritage, and our commitment to inclusive, holistic, and sustainable human development.

Each Geopark is invited to send at least one or two traditional textile pieces, measuring 50 x 75 cm. If the Geopark encompasses different local communities or ethnic groups, sending one or two pieces from each community or group for the “Weaving Hope” project is recommended.

All textiles must be sent to the conference organization before June 15th, 2025.
