Five (5) Reasons why your book is not Selling on Amazon KDP and How you can improve that.
Just in case you don't already know, Amazon KDP is a platform where you can publish and sell books for free and get patronized from all over the world by the over 300million active customers of Amazon, whether or not you are a Writer or author.. These books could be long content, short content (25-30 pages) or no content books e.g notebook, logbook, sketch book, activity book etc.
So if you are a Publisher or an intending Publisher on Amazon,
Here are 5 reasons why your book might not be selling or may not sell:
1. You have a terrible cover:
Don't be offended, but if your books aren't selling, it could be because the covers are either bad or you're overthinking the whole thing.
According to research, the best-selling books have good, yet simple book covers.
While it is important to have an eye-catching and pleasing cover, you also don't want to overdo it and include too many graphics.
Because, in the end, people do judge a book by its cover.
A good cover is the first thing readers notice about your book and what draws them in. So if you don't get it right with that, no matter how great your book content is, you've already lost potential buyers.
2. You don't have a Good title or Keyword in your Title:
Let me first emphasize that Amazon has an algorithm, so the reason you can find things is simply because of the keywords that you search. And Amazon then brings you the best products with the most traffic, but more importantly, that match the exact keyword that you put in.
As a result, having a good title that hits all the right keywords is crucial if you want to sell on Amazon.
There is a formula that can help you find the best Keyword for your book. It is referred to as the "writing without writing formula".
It is a method for creating either a high or low content book. It not only assists you in creating your cover page, but it also assists you in creating the interior i.e the content of your book, and uploading it to Amazon KDP.
The most important aspect is that it provides you with all of the analytical data required for a successful book..
To get this formula, I've explained how to do that further down the page. so you might want to read all the way to the end.
3: Because you either don't understand your niche market or the niche you're in is overly competitive:
This goes back to knowing what keywords you're using, what category you're in, and knowing whether the competition in that market is low or high.
So you just might be creating books that are completely unrelated to what people want or are looking for. This is why you need to understand your niche, who you're selling to, and who you're targeting because this will help you with your title, cover page, and finding the right people who want to buy your books.
The truth is you can't sell a product that no one wants.
So, if you are in an overly competitive market, such as the health market, and do not specify who you are trying to target, you may end up among the thousands of thousands of other people trying to sell in that market.
As a result, you should try to narrow your focus more. For example, if you're targeting women and health, you might want to narrow your focus to black women and health, or women in business and health, or something along those lines. You may need to narrow it down a little more so that you can appear to your exact targeted customers. This is why you need a keyword search or a product search to make sure there's a demand for your book within that market.
4. No customer/product reviews:
When it comes to Amazon or any market place, the first thing people look at before making a purchase are the reviews. They want to see what other people are saying about the product. Nobody wants to bet on a product that hasn't been tested by anyone.
Consider this: If you're about to buy something from someone and they have two similar products, but one has reviews while the other doesn't, which one are you going to buy first?
Isn't it the one with the reviews?
Even if there are only one, two, or three reviews, you would still choose it over the one that has none.
So here's the solution, because I'm sure you're wondering, "How can I have product reviews if I've never made a sale?"
Well, you can ensure that you are your first sale. Nothing prevents you from listing your product, purchasing your own book, flipping through the pages, taking pictures, and then leaving a review on your own product.
If that makes you feel uneasy, you can buy your own product and send it to a family member or friend, asking them to leave a positive review for you.
Also let them know it will be beneficial if they take a few pictures of the book and flip in through a few pages. this way, people who are looking for your book or come across it can see the interior or pages.
5. Your book lacks substance:
Amazon is a competitive market, but the truth is that many people make massive sales there every day with low and no content books.
Simply uploading a regular cover with only line paper inside will no longer work. You should add some more pages, something a little more interactive and engaging to spice things up, maybe with a little more color in it.
And all of these can be easier using the "writing without writing formula method" I previously discussed.
Note: You should also publish as many books as possible, see which ones get the most traffic, and if you haven't made a sale from any of them yet, tweak it. Return to this page and apply all of the five suggestions listed here. Rinse and repeat until you've found your winning products.
Fortunately, with the writing without writing formula, you can produce 3-5 books per day.
In conclusion, let me state that you must put in the effort and conduct the research necessary to create a high-quality product with a good cover, title, and substance that reaches the target audience that you seek in order to create books that sell.
