Mozambique is the only country in the world which sports a firearm on their flag, namely an AK-47 Kalashinkov. It symbolises defence, vigilance and not least the long struggle for freedom and independence. The Mozambican people were occupied by the Portuguese in 1505 and suffered colonialisation for 470 years.

It wasn’t until 1975 that FRELIMO (Frente de Libertação de Moçambique / the Mozambican Liberation Front), under the leadership of Eduardo Mondlane and Samora Machel, managed to defeat the Portuguese army and finally win independence.

Rishi Sunak emerge as the new UK Prime Minister. Sunak was born on 12 May 1980 in Southampton to African-born Hindu parents of Punjabi Indian descent, Yashvir and Usha Sunak. He is the eldest of three siblings. His father was born and raised in the Colony and Protectorate of Kenya (present-day Kenya), while his mother was born in Tanganyika (which later became part of Tanzania). His grandfathers were born in Punjab province, British India, and migrated from East Africa with their family to the UK in 1960s.

STADIUM 974 - Qatar🇶🇦

Located on the shore of the gulf in the east of Doha, near the port Hamad international airport. Stadium 974 was designed by Fenwick Iribarren Architects ( A Spanish architecture firm) The 40,000 capacity stadium is constructed on 450,000 square meter waterfront and is situated on an artificial promontory. Construction began in the year 2018 and completed/opened on 30th November 2021. Stadium 974 is a temporary Venue made from 974 recycled shipping containers. the stadium will host seven matches during the 2022 fifa world cup Qatar.

Okinoshima Island: A small outcrop of the kynshu island which is close to south Korea. It is a sacred site in the Japanese Shinto religion, which insist that no female is allowed to visit the island. Even the male visitors have to strip naked and ritually wash themselves in the waters of the Korean strait before setting foot on it. According to BBC, only 200 visitors per year are allowed to visit the island. The island has been a holy spot for more than 1000 years and host a 17th century shrine at which worshippers can pray for the safe passage of japanese sailors. The island is also listed among the UNESCO world heritage site.

Ghana National Mosque Accra - West Africa's second biggest mosque. Funded by the Turkish government, Ghana's National Mosque is said to be a replica of the Blue Mosque in Istanbul. The complex cost at least $10 million dollars, 15,000 people can worship in the mosque at a time.

Antarctica is the fifth largest continent, being nearly twice the size of Australia and larger than Europe, and has an area of 14,200,00km². It's landmass is almost wholly covered by a vast ice sheet. Antarctica is the only continent without an indigenous human population due to it's remoteness, inhospitable weather conditions and lack of natural land, bridges connecting it to other continent. However, there are permanent human settlements where scientist and support staff live for part of the year on a rotating basis. The estimated number of scientist living there is about 1000 to 4000 seasonal.

The “Stan" Countries.
The suffix “Stan" is of Indo-European and Indo-Iranian origin.The suffix means “country" or “place off" in Persian. Countries and region bearing this suffix are located mostly throughout Asia, Russia and other areas where Persian Culture has been adopted. The “Stan Countries" include the following; Afghanistan🇦🇫, Kazakhstan🇰🇿, Kyrgyzstan🇰🇬, Pakistan🇵🇰, Tajikistan🇹🇯, Turkmenistan🇹🇲 and Uzbekistan🇺🇿.

The term “Stanistan" is used collectively for all the Stan countries and region. If the Stan counties unite, It would be called STANISTAN and the largest city (probably the capital city) would be Karachi in Pakistan with a population of over 9 million. The country would have a population of over 278 million, making it the 5th most populated country in the world. It would be 5.5 million square kilometers large making it the 7th largest country in size behind Australia. It would have a total of 975,000 active military personnel more than south Korea, France, United kingdom, Germany or Russia.

2 Air France pilots suspended after fighting in cockpit

PARIS (AP) — Fisticuffs in the cockpit, leaving a leaky engine running while cruising over Africa -- Air France pilots are under scrutiny after recent incidents that have prompted French investigators to call for tougher safety protocols.

Two Air France pilots were suspended after physically fighting in the cockpit on a Geneva-Paris flight in June, an Air France official said Sunday. The flight continued and landed safely, and the dispute didn’t affect the rest of the flight, the official said, stressing the airline’s commitment to safety.

Switzerland’s La Tribune reported that the pilot and co-pilot had a dispute shortly after takeoff, and grabbed each other by their collars after one apparently hit the other. Cabin crew intervened and one crew member spent the flight in the cockpit with the pilots, the report said.

News of the fight emerged after France’s air investigation agency, BEA, issued a report Wednesday saying that some Air France pilots lack rigor in respecting procedures during safety incidents.

It focused on a fuel leak on an Air France flight from Brazzaville in the Republic of Congo to Paris in December 2020, when pilots rerouted the plane but didn’t cut power to the engine or land as soon as possible, as leak procedure requires. The plane landed safely in Chad, but the BEA report warned that the engine could have caught fire.

It mentioned three similar cases between 2017 and 2022, and said some pilots are acting based on their own analysis of the situation instead of safety protocols.

Air France said it is carrying out a safety audit in response. It pledged to follow the BEA’s recommendations, which include allowing pilots to study their flights afterward and making training manuals stricter about sticking to procedure.

The airline noted that it flies thousands of flights daily and the report mentions only four such safety incidents.

Air France pilots unions have insisted that security is paramount to all pilots and defended pilot actions during emergency situations.

The BEA also investigated an incident in April involving an Air France flight from New York’s JFK airport that suffered flight control problems on approach to its landing in Paris.

Mosquitoes can breed in a variety of environments such as hot and humid climates as well as cold climatic conditions. They are even known to breed in Antarctica which is the coldest place on earth but not in Iceland. Why?

Because in Iceland, the insects get only three major freezes which thaw once a year; making it an undesirable condition for their survival.🇮🇸

The US government has agreed to return to Nigeria over $23 million that was laundered by former military ruler Sani Abacha.

Nigeria has previously recovered several other tranches of the loot, believed to have been diverted from public coffers. In 2020, the US also agreed to return over $308 million in confiscated funds to Nigeria. In 2006, about $723 million of the money was returned to Nigeria from Switzerland.

What should be done to ensure every citizen benefits from the recovered funds?

The Great Algerian Mosque is the third largest mosque in the world

Ten facts you do not know about the Great Mosque:

1- The carpet of the Great Mosque was made in Algeria
Made in 16 Algerian countries.

2- The mosque has the largest chandelier in the world with a diameter of 14 meters, made by an Austrian designer.

3- It contains 6 km of Arabic calligraphy, and there are different types of Arabic calligraphy

4- It has 7 lights according to each prayer.

5- Some doors are inspired by the doors of the historical Algerian mosques, such as the gate of the Sidi Boumediene Mosque, Tlemcen.
