: Canada Express Entry Costs in 2025: How to Budget Smart & Make It Work
Let’s have an honest conversation. I know you’re worried about the cost of Express Entry in 2025.
You've probably watched countless YouTube videos, read endless posts on immigration forums, and even attended a few ‘Canada PR seminars.’ But one thing is still keeping you awake at night: THE COST.
You’ve probably heard people say, “If you don’t have millions in your account, just forget it.” Or maybe someone has tried to scare you with the dreaded Proof of Funds wahala.
I get it. Every single day, I talk to people—hard working individuals like you—who are serious about relocating to Canada but feel stuck because they don’t know how much it’ll cost or how to prove they have the funds.
Some even start the process only to get hit with surprise expenses along the way.
But listen, relocating to Canada isn’t just for millionaires.
The truth is, if you plan well, budget wisely, and follow the right strategy, you can make it work without breaking the bank.
And today, I’ll break it all down for you—the exact costs of Express Entry in 2025, hidden fees people don’t tell you about, and proven strategies to cut costs while staying 100% compliant.
At the end, I’ll also share the single most important resource that has helped hundreds of Nigerians not just afford the process, but get an ITA faster and avoid unnecessary expenses.
Ready? Let’s dive in.
The Real Cost of Express Entry in 2025
People like to throw figures around, but let’s be precise. Here’s what you should expect to spend at each stage:
1. Language Test (IELTS or TEF) – ₦250,000 to ₦300,000
To enter the Express Entry pool, you need to prove your English (or French) skills.
IELTS remains the most common option, but my dear, if you can manage small small in French, I’ll advise you to take TEF too—it can boost your CRS score and help you qualify for category-based draws. Well that's if you have a background in learning French.
2. Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) – about ₦400,000
Your foreign degree needs to be evaluated by organizations like WES, ICAS, or IQAS. The cost depends on the agency, courier fees, and document verification charges from your school.
Cost-saving tip: If your school delays transcripts, try services like WES’ "ECA for two or more credentials" to avoid extra processing fees later.
3. Express Entry Profile Creation – FREE!
Yes, entering the pool is free! But what many don’t know is that if your documentation is not airtight, you’re just wasting time in the pool.
The real costs come after you get invited.
4. Proof of Funds (This One Scares Many People!)
Canada wants to be sure you have enough money to settle so you don't become a liability to the government.
Here’s the minimum required in 2025 (converted to naira at ₦1,200/CAD):
- 1 Person | $14,690 | ₦17.8M
- 2 People | $18,288 | ₦22.2M
- 3 People | $22,483 | ₦26.9M
- 4 People | $27,297 | ₦32.5M
- 5 People | $30,690 | ₦36.9M
Does this mean you must have millions in cash lying in your account? No.
But you must present your proof the right way.
I once had a client, Chika, who almost got rejected because she couldn’t properly explain a sudden inflow in her account.
If she had learned how to document and present her finances correctly, she wouldn’t have panicked at the last minute.
That’s exactly what we've broken down in my Express Entry Masterclass—how to legally prove your funds without stress.

5. Medical Exam – ₦150,000 to ₦200,000
After getting an ITA, you’ll need a medical test at an approved panel physician. This ensures you don’t have any medical conditions that could make you inadmissible.
6. Police Clearance Certificate – ₦15,000 to ₦35,000
Canada needs to confirm you have no criminal record. If you’ve lived in another country for more than six months, you’ll need a certificate from there too.
7. Permanent Residence Application Fee
a. Principal applicant: Processing fee: $950 CAD
Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF): $575 CAD
Total: $1525 CAD
b. Spouse or common-law partner: Processing fee: $950 CAD
Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF): $575 CAD
Total: $1525 CAD
c. Dependent child: $260 CAD per child
Important
8. Biometrics – CAD $85 per person
You’ll need to provide fingerprints and a photo at a Visa Application Center.
9. Travel Costs – this depends on the flight company and province you'll be arriving at.
Flight tickets, landing expenses, and initial rent in Canada. This is where many people often underestimate costs.
Are You Wondering How to Reduce Your Costs & Still Succeed? Pay attention here.
