Titanic Sub Operator Believes Passengers Have 'Sadly Been Lost'

The operator of the submersible missing near the wreck of the Titanic on Thursday said it believed that the passengers aboard the vessel "have sadly been lost."

"Our hearts are with these five souls and every member of their families during this tragic time. We grieve the loss of life and joy they brought to everyone they knew," OceanGate said in a statement.

The submarine, which was supposed to take tourists on a Titanic wreckage tour at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, is missing. OceanGate CEO Rush Stockton is one of the five passengers who set out in the submarine to reach the wreck, but they have only enough oxygen to last until tomorrow. The submarine is about 4km below the surface of the ocean, and the fate of the passengers is unknown.
