The best shawarma in Awka? 🤔
I tried the popular amala and ewedu/gbegiri meal for the first time during my last visit to Lagos and it was not a bad one after all.
Thing is, I'm not sure it’s something I’d love to try again or not. The slimy soup was giving ogbono vibes and I'm not a fan of ogbono. The yellow soup that was added was giving potash (a liquid substance we use to make abacha in my place - we call it "ncha"). I was only familiar with the stew and eating swallow with stew is a no no for me. If it is not soup, take your swallow back and give me rice instead.
I really love the amala swallow itself. Felt more like wheat or something like it. It was light and I think I’d love to try it with some other soups that are not ewedu or gbegiri.
I give the amala meal a 6/10 rating. Maybe when next I visit a Yoruba land, preferably Ibadan, I'd love to try it again; to pass my final verdict 🤭
This is Nigeria. Guess where? #travel #tourism #visitnigeria #lagosnigeria #reelsvideo #viralvideo

The reality of most tourists and travel content creators 😪
Ganvié is a Benin lakeside village in the middle of Lake Nokoué, north of Cotonou. For travelers passing through West Africa, we suggest discovering this very harmonious lakeside village. Indeed, Ganvié is a floating city with houses on stilts. It is full of charm and unique in its kind in all of Benin. Also nicknamed "the Venice of Africa", this magnificent islet attracts the curiosity of tourists enormously with its aquatic streets surrounded by water hyacinths. Spending time in this place offers travelers the opportunity to discover the way of life of city dwellers, their culture and their monuments. Located in southern Benin, Ganvié is a small village built in the 18th century by the Toffinous, peoples from Togo. The history of the city dates back 300 years. The time when slave raids engaged in hostilities against the entire population living in Togo. Fleeing the heinous acts, the villagers took refuge in the swamps of Lake Nokoué. Once they arrived on the shores of the lake, they hardly had the means to cross it. Then, King Agbogdobé turned into a hawk, flew over the lagoon and spotted the island of Ganvié. Then he changed into a crocodile and carried his people on his back to this new land.
