Again! Awgu is a hidden gem of a tourist location that boasts some of the most breathtaking natural wonders. One of these wonders is the stunning Twin Waterfall (Topic for another day), which is a sight to behold. Additionally, there’s another waterfall in Awgu, known as Ogbangeleagu, where the bridge is formed by a naturally placed rock.

However, what one that truly sets Awgu apart is the mysterious Ọmọ. This pool-like river is surrounded by gigantic trees that are said to get their source of sustainability from the river, the presence of the animals that inhabit its waters makes it more interesting. The fish and snails are sacred, and it is forbidden to harm them.

While Ọmọ is a seasonal river (as you can see in the current picture), it is at its most magnificent during the rainy season when it swells in size, and you can swim alongside the fish without them swimming away. The experience is simply amazing.

Apart from Ọmọ, there are other stunning attractions in Awgu, such as Obiala-ohulu and the hill of Mmaku (U8). However, to truly appreciate the beauty of Ọmọ and its lush green surroundings, it is best to visit during the rainy season.

The Trail that leads to Happy Ending!
This is the easiest trail to go on, and we usually recommend it for first-time hikers. It's just 2 hills and a long walk which will also test your strength and endurance.
No doubt, Hiking is an exercise, however, it's also fun. Especially when you're having a conversation with the “stranger” you just met at the mustar point. You guys look out for each other while hiking and even give a “helping hand”, either while climbing or coming down the hill.

As a first Hiker, The energy you arrive with won't be matched to others due to how much you anticipate trying this for the first time.

However, before you clean your shoes for our Saturday hike, check this out;

• Make sure you don't finish your water and don't drink water while you're still climbing. Wait until you reach the at the top.
• If your pants start feeling tight, adjust it a bit.
• Make sure you're in front, possibly close to the Hike Guide, that way, you can get enough rest before the old takers (Hikers) get to the resting point.
• If you feel anyway, different, alert the nearest person close to you
• Talk and Chat with your hike partner (You must have met and chat with at least two people at the mustar point)
Remember to take enough pictures for these are memories you would love to look back on.

Hey Traveller, Tourist, Traveller! Before you visit Igbo Land (again), I have a fascinating story to share with you about the Python snake in Igbo Land.

I understand that snakes might not be your thing, and you probably avoid them or may even feel compelled to kill them on sight. But wait, you might want to think twice about this one!

In Igbo Land, the Python is highly respected and even worshipped. It is considered valuable. Interestingly, this snake can even be your friend and share a bed with you!

Yes, you read that right! If you are a visitor or a stranger, the Python will come out to greet you. And if there's a newborn baby in the town, the snake will find its way to the corner where the baby is and lie with it.

Now, before you go ahead and kill this snake, think about the consequences. In Igbo Land, it's a taboo to kill a Python. It's equivalent to murdering a human being, and you must perform the burial rites.

Generally, let's protect wildlife and appreciate the importance of animals in our society.

Did you know that there was once a tribe in Igbo Land where humans had tails? It’s true! These incredible people were known as the Ohaodu tribe, and they were renowned traders who were often found at the local market. But there was always something mysterious about them, they would arrive at the market early and leave late, and nobody knew why.

One day, the neighboring community became curious and decided to investigate. They made a sneaky plan to infest the Ohaodu people’s seats with ants, hoping to uncover their secret. And it worked! As it turned out, the Ohaodu people had tails and were hiding them by making a hole in their stool to pack it inside.

The community was shocked by what they had discovered and the Ohaodu people were furious. They left the market that day, and nobody knows where they went or what became of them. But the mystery of the Ohaodu people lives on, and researchers are still trying to uncover the truth about these fascinating shapeshifters.
