People always talk about how growing up is a scam. One expect things to be really better and more exciting but it's been said that it's a scam😀

We celebrated Christmas some weeks ago and there were so many memes about how one celebrate Christmas as a child and how it is celebrated now as an adult. No more free Christmas clothes and shoes, money from uncles and aunts and so on.

Fortune is an Architect. He toured Abeokuta with us and we got to know about his love for art especially paintings on our way to Abeokuta. Guess who was very helpful during our tour to the Art Gallery at Olumo rock? Yeah, you guessed right.

Fortune was very helpful in telling us about the paintings in the gallery, their durability and what some of them depicted. We are now acquainted with Fortune and can seek his advice on paintings besides Architecture anytime.

Ever wonder why Nigeria is not always a vacation destination for foreigners? If you watch some foreign shows and follow foreign celebrities on social media, you will realize they sometimes talk about going to Africa for vacation but Nigeria is never one of their holiday destinations. The question then is why? If we call a place “giant of Africa”, shouldn’t it be the first place or one of the places foreigners visit in Africa? Or is it that Nigeria has nothing worth showing the world? We grew up hearing Nigeria is blessed with natural resources and this is actually true so it can never be lack of natural resources particularly tourist attractions. Ado Awaye is said to house the only other suspended lake in the world; that alone is something for Nigeria without mentioning other beautiful places in Nigeria.

We can mention reasons {for instance, lack of infrastructure and insecurity} why Nigeria does not really attract foreign tourists but it is not due to the current situation in Nigeria. Our tourist sector recently started to evolve, according to the Special Report on Tourism in the Developing World by the United States Institute of Peace in 2006, tourism was only .02 percent of our GDP while it was 2.24 percent in Kenya. According to the same report, there was no data showing domestic tourist visits in Nigeria between 1990 - 2006. It therefore appears that the lack of activities in the tourist sector has been existent since the 1990s and not a result of the current economical and social circumstances.

We’ve been talking about foreign visits, what about domestic tourism? Are Nigerians exploring these tourist sites? The US Institute of Peace Report also noted that there was no record of domestic tourist visits between 1990 – 2006. It therefore appears that many Nigerians are not well informed about tourist sites available in Nigeria and its inherent opportunities for them personally and Nigeria as a country. A good number of teenagers that grew up in Lagos have never been to the beach yet they would have heard of the beach at least once in school. What then do we say about people that didn’t grow up in Lagos, Calabar, Akwa Ibom and other cities with beaches? Some of them may never have been to the dams in their towns before.

Lack of domestic tourism, foreign tourists, and unawareness of Nigerian culture amongst Nigerians and foreigners are some of the key drivers that birthed Bethel Rehoboth. Bethel Rehoboth as a business entity is set to promote tourism and culture in Nigeria by planning and organizing events centered on tourism for Nigerians and foreigners.
