Fully funded PhD scholarship at UMaine: Phenology & Climate Change
The research group of Dr. Sydne Record (https://umaine.edu/wle/faculty-staffdirectory/sydne-record/) seeks applicants for one Ph.D. position in Ecology and Environmental Sciences at the University of Maine in Orono in the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Conservation Biology starting inJanuary 2023.
Our research group focuses on population and community ecology from a biogeographical perspective. We apply computational methods to data from various environmental observatory networks to explore ecological dynamics across space and time. Funding for this assistantship comes from a National Science Foundation grant and aims to develop predictive models of phenological sensitivity to climate and other environmental factors using an unprecedented number of in-situ and herbarium observations and to generate near-term forecasts of phenological sensitivity into the future.

IF YOU WISH TO STUDY IN CANADA 🇨🇦, THIS IS FOR YOU.📌
One of the biggest benefits of picking Canada as your study destination is that you can work while you study, but there are few things you need to know before you can start working.
Most International students studying in Canada are only permitted to work up to 20 hours per week and full-time during specified breaks when they work off-campus. Now, this is amazing if I'm being honest because you can work for any employer you wish without a work permit. But if working more than 20 hrs a week is something you're looking for, then you should know about working on campus.
Working on campus refers to working for any employer who has an office on the campus of the university or college, including the school or college itself, a professor (as a research assistant, for example), yourself a student organization, or a private contractor who offers services to the university or college, such as a gym or restaurant.
However ,It's crucial to remember that even if you want to work while you study in Canada, you will still need to provide proof of adequate financial support when applying for your study visa. This implies that anticipated future earnings will not count when demonstrating Proof of funds.

Receiving Your Study Permit
If your application is approved, you will receive confirmation via the website, or any contact information you provided. However, until you arrive at a Canadian port of entry, you won't physically receive your Canadian study permit. Instead, the Canadian government will issue you a Port Of Entry Introduction Letter; this is what you present to the immigration officials when you arrive in Canada for them to give you the study permit.

How Long Does The Canada Visa Application Process Take? The processing time for study permit applications vary, depending on factors such as your country of residence, documents provided, and even the number of permits currently being processed.
The shortest processing time takes between one to two weeks, while some can also take as long as 16 weeks.
However, for faster processing times, you can check your eligibility for Study Direct Stream (SDS) and it's also advised to apply months earlier than the intended travel date. The earlier the better.

There are two ways to submit your application when applying for Canada 🇨🇦 Visa:
-Electronic Submission: To start, you must create an account on the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. On this platform, you can upload scanned or electronic copies of the required documents.
-Paper-based submissions: Gather the hard copies of the required documents and mail them to the Visa Application Centre (VAC) assigned to your country. This option is usually for people who have a disability that prevents them from applying online or have identity or travel documents not listed on the IRCC website, e.g. non-national residents or stateless persons.
After you apply, you should book an appointment for your biometric as soon as you can to avoid processing delays.
While your documents are being processed, you could be invited to an interview with Canadian officials in your home country or send in more information. You may also need to provide a medical exam report or police certificate.
It is also worth noting that an application with incomplete documents might be returned without processing, or delayed due to a request for the missing documents.

Even if you're not resuming till the following year, it helps to begin the application process as soon as you've been admitted to a US educational institution. USA Visa processing can take a little time and could eat into resumption time that is why it’s advisable to apply months earlier.
