“The Woman King” movie will bring history to our screens on the 16th of September. A movie written and directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood.
Without the fearless female warriors, the history of the Dahomey kingdom in western Africa, which flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries in what is now southern Benin, would be incomplete. Even the French who conquered Benin praised their bravery because they were the last line of defence before the Dahomey kingdom was seized.
You might have heard of them as ‘Mino’ (our mothers), ‘Ahosi’ (kings’ wives), or ‘Dahomey Amazons’. They were the power force of the great Republic of Benin in the 18th and 19th century. They were fearless, highly disciplined and noble.
Viola Davis who is the lead character will show the world how these fearless women of the 1800s carved their names on the history of Dahomey.

Ethiopia did not only escape colonization, it is also a UNIQUE country.
The reason for all the difference is simply because they count differently and even their time is different from the rest of the world. If you want to go back in time, you should visit Ethiopia.
If different were a country, Ethiopia would definitely take that award.

You want to know what creativity means? Let's talk about how our ancestors used braids as maps. Yes, you heard right! They were simply amazing and they thought outside the box. Black hair has always had history. In colon!al times, every group had a hairstyle: mothers, kids, married women, etc. It was a symbol of identity, royalty, and status. During the time of sl@very, those who wanted to escape braided maps into their hair, while also hiding food for the journey in it. Whenever you see braids know that it is beyond style it is African history. #ConnectAfrique #OneAfrica #AfricanHistory #Africanfood #Africanfashion #Afrobeat #Afrobeats #zimbabwe #zimbabwenews #happeninginzimbabwe #africannews #happinginafrica #inflation #africancurency #visitzimbabwe #instablog #kenyanews #happeninginafrica
