Memories of the event of this day 13 years ago can never be forgotten when life remains life, this day in the history of Lagos marked the turnaround and a rebirth of the new phase of the kingship system particularly in Lagos state and Southwestern Nigeria.

A brilliant, vibrant, and young Prince Saheed Ademola Ifawuyi Elegushi was crowned the HRM. Alayeluwa Elegushi of the Ikate Kingdom and Environ., and Kusela III. This changed his status, from a Prince, Mr., or Honourable to His Royal Majesty and Made him one of the youngest to be crowned in history as a King (Oba) in Lagos State, swiftly, Alayeluwa, raised the bar and changed the perceptions of what kingship used to look like, and used to be known as he added a different style and touch of class to the narration.

Every other young Prince, in all Royal houses in Yoruba Land began to show interest in the vacant stools of their families, even those that have been vacant and nobody was ready to ascend.

Oba Saheed Ademola Ifawuyi Elegushi, is a game-changer, a pacesetter, and an innovator.

*MISREPRESENTATION OF FACTS IN THE MOVIE, GANGS OF LAGOS; A CALL FOR CAUTION*

The attention of the *Omo Epetedo Forum*, OEF, has been drawn to a movie premiere by the duo of Jade Osiberu and Kemi Lala Akindoju, desecrating the culture and tradition of the indigenous people of Lagos.

While we are not averse to their rights to turn fiction to reality, We are totally in disagreement with the criminal portrayal of the Eyo Adamu orisa play as a means to gangsterism and thuggery. Let us remind the purveyors of such false representation that the Adamu Orisa play dates back to 1854 when it was first introduced.

The Eyo symbolises final rites for a late Son or Daughter of Lagos, or used to usher in a new Eleko of Lagos. All the apparel and accoutrement of the Eyo Festival symbolises Peace and Tranquility. The Opanbata with which the Eyo moves around is an "Atona" which gives spiritual directions to the Eyo coupled with Prayers.

It is then sad that such Tradition of high magnitude is been pictured as a tool of violence and criminality. It is not only sad that Jade Osiberu and Kemi Akindoju are well lettered, it is barbaric that they lost their sense of humour and ability to Research and Consult wide before delving into such Ethnic Profiling and demeaning of the Lagos tradition.

OUR DEMANDS

In view of the foregoing, We hereby demand that;

* The Producers; Jade Osiberu and Kemi Lala Akindoju MUST immediately tender Public Apology within 72 hours of the issue of this Press Statement or be ready for Legal tussle

* That the Nigeria Movie Censors Board should immediately call for a review and withdrawal of the movie from public glare.

* That the Nigeria Nollywood Association (Parent Body) including the ANTP, TAMPAN and others should scold and sanction the producers for desecrating the Heritage of Lagos

* All movie producers be warned to ensure a thorough Consultation, Research and Investigation about the Culture and Tradition of Nigerians before picking on such items.

* That IF our demands are not met within 7 Days of this publication, We shall not hesitate to approach the Courts to seek redress.

A SUMMARY OF THE ORO DEITY.

WHAT IS ORO, AND A NEED FOR HOSTING ITS FESTIVAL OR PERFORMING ITS RITE.

Oro is the powerful Yoruba deity of Justice, It can also be referred to as the deity of ancestral spirits, and an invisible and powerful force, it can suppress any form of physical or spiritual oppression in a community or situation.

It cleanses and purifies communities of all evils, sins, abominations, iniquities, pandemics, and bad luck among other ill nature happenings.

Its festival is celebrated annually or whenever the need arises.

Oro cannot be seen but makes a very strong whirring sound, the frequency of this sound is unlike no other and is a blessing to all who hear it or the opposite for those who stand as enemies of the community.

However, Women are forbidden to see or take part in the oro rite and likewise, Children and men that are not natives of the community or initiates of the Oro cult are not permitted to move about while the rituals are going on as there are dire consequences and defaulters don’t often live to tell the tales.

Its secrets are closely guarded and its cult membership isn’t easily accessible to people irrespective of wealth, status, or fame.

Those who claim to have seen Oro with their own eyes probably are living ghosts, even the initiates cannot describe what it is or looks like.

Oro is a means of protection just as most indigenous tribes all over the world have their means of protecting and preserving their territory and people.

In this vein, there will be restriction of movement from 12midnight - 5am each day. (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday).
