Lagos-Ibadan train (The 156km double-track standard gauge rail line)
All you need to know.
👉🏽 For now, the train takes off 8am from Moniya station, Ibadan and arrives at lagos 10:40am. While it takes off at 4pm from Ebutte-Metta station, Lagos, then arrives at Ibadan 6:40pm with a stop at Abeokuta station to pick and drop passengers.
👉🏽 It takes 2hrs 40mins from Lagos to Ibadan, a trip per day with a speed limit of around 30-80km/ hr (Vice versa). The speed would be optimised after its official commission. Also, as soon as people get used to it, to avoid accident.
👉🏽 To purchase a ticket, you have to present a valid means of identification.
👉🏽 No E-ticketing for now. Therefore, it is recommended you arrive at the station early, so as to get a ticket (at least a hour before its departure time).
👉🏽 Price of the ticket varies. From Lagos to Ibadan, economy ticket costs ₦2500 with a capacity of 88 seaters, ₦5000 for business class, with a capacity of 56/68 seaters, while the VIP ticket costs ₦6000 with a capacity of 24 seaters per coach.
👉🏽 The train is well equipped with TVs, Air-conditioner, multiple sockets with USB ports, toilets, enough leg-space as well as luggage-space.
👉🏽 The Medical team and security officers are on the train with the passengers, incase of emergency.
👉🏽 Covid-19 protocols are duly observed on the train. Therefore, one has to take precautions and follow the guidelines as instructed.
👉🏽 Lastly, it's still under construction. Nevertheless, your safety is assured.
