Few weeks back, Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture under the care of the Honorable Commissioner Pharmacist Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu organized a fam tour tagged #Best_Of_Lagos to the five (5) divisions of the State exposing the various tourism potentials and facilities in the state to the stakeholders.
The information about a specific destination which is mostly demanded by tourists is considered as an important means of promotion for the tourism industry.
Destination promotion is identifying what tourist would like to see, feel and take back home as an experience when they visited and a variety of methods may be used in achieving this.
The recent fam tour as a case study.
A week after the fam tour, the ATPN Lagos Chairman, Hon. Apata Samson Olatunji Nunayon in company of the Secretary and PRO Lagos ATPN, led an international tourist visiting Nigeria for the first time, a foremost German journalist Mr. Neils Bartels to the ancient city of Epe to experience and explore the beauty.
On the arrival, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government Hon.(Princess) Surah Olayemi Animashaun and her Counterpart Hon. Mosuru Akinloye the Executive Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area alongside the Council Vice Chairman and the Council Manager received us with joy and without wasting much time, Mubarak, the tallest model in Sub Sahara Africa and a member of the team revealed reasons for his visit to Nigeria and were discussed extensively and the Council Boss after mentioning all the attractions in and around Epe, she then used that available opportunity to further promote the selling point of the destination which is the Fish Market and because of the interest of our visitor (Bartels) lies around food tourism, he got hooked up and promised to partner with the Epe Local Government and every necessary stakeholders
