Calabar, 28th June, 2022 – As tourism stakeholders and businesses consider strategies to combat the third quarter of a financially challenging economy, the Cross River State Chapter of the Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN) is set to host practitioners to the First Edition of the Cross River Tourism Roundtable at the Dome, Calabar Municipal Gardens on Thursday, 30th of June, 2022 by 9.00am.
The Tourism Roundtable Meetings is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative of the Institute of Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN) in collaboration with the Cross River State Tourism Bureau, and is designed to reenergize and rejuvenate a flagging and troubled tourism sector in the State in the aftermath of COVID.
According to Professor Benjamin Esu who leads ITPN in the State, 'the roundtable discussions will focus on the theme: Repositioning Cross Tourism through industry connectivity'. Esu explains that inputs, contents, suggestions and opinions are expected from all well-meaning tourism stakeholders to fuel the effort of State Government Tourism agencies in order to reborn that unique tourism experience that Cross River was once known for.
Esu added that conversations at the roundtable event will include:
• An overview of Cross River Tourism: where are we and where do we want to be?
• Catalyzing Market Competitiveness of Destination Cross River: the Role of Stakeholders.
• The Cross River Tourism and Hospitality Skills gaps: Strategies for Manpower Development.
Conclusively, Esu calls on all tourism practitioners & operators, from hotels & accommodation establishments, to restaurant and bar operators, from airlines and travel trade agencies to fast-food providers, from students of tourism in our public and private institutions to community based tourism givers, to come out in numbers to be part of this redefining moment in charting a new course for tourism in our State.
