IRI JI OHU FESTIVAL
Abia State is known for its celebration of the Iri Ji Ohu Festival, also known as the "New Yam Festival." What makes this festival unique is the ritualistic aspect of thanking the gods for a bountiful harvest. However, what may seem unusual to outsiders is the traditional practice of offering yams to the gods before the yams can be consumed by the community.

EKPE MASQUERADE
The Ekpe masquerade is a cultural display unique to some parts of Abia State. What makes this tradition unusual to outsiders is the elaborate costumes and masks worn by participants, often representing spirits or ancestors. The masquerades play a significant role in traditional ceremonies and festivals, serving as a link between the living and the spirit world.

AMAKAMA WOODEN CAVE

This is one of the biggest and oldest trees in the world, Amakama Wooden Cave, is located in Abia state, Nigeria.
It is said that not less than 20 adults can fit into the massive hollow of the tree which is said to be protected by bees

AZUMINI BLUE RIVER

Azumini is a town in Nigeria's Abia state. It is located some 15 miles south of the commercial city of Aba. It is famous for the Azumini Blue River. It is also an ancient slave trade route through the blue river commonly known in local dialect as Mini- Okigo.

NATIONAL WAR MUSEUM,

The Nigerian National War Museum in Umuahia showcases the military history of Nigeria with relics from the Biafra-Nigerian Civil War. It has a collection of tanks, armored vehicles, ships, and aircraft all from Nigeria or the defunct Republic of Biafra.[1] Almost all tanks and AFLs are Biafran and all aircraft are Nigerian.[2] It holds in it the evidence of the internal war in Nigeria from 1967 to 1970. The museum is considered a heritage site.

Ojukwu bunker (hide out) built during the Nigerian civil war. Built around 1967-1979 at Oguta lake community.
This place is popularly know to be the hiding place Ojukwu during the Biafra civil war

This years theme is "Green Tourism & Investments."

There will be a tour to explore the space and learn about the unique history of Freedom Park.
Followed by a fun packed picnic under the shadow of rich greens, with loads of games, it's a BYOBF affair, so feel free to come with something to celebrate the day with.

For only interested guests, there will be crafts like Paint and Plant and a practical session for tie and dye on T-shirts or tote bags.
